#105483, "any new LSD's out there?"

any body know of a Carbon clutch type LSD made for our cars yet?
prefer 1.5,or 2 types but i dont care too much as long as its a clutch
i looked at cusco kazz and carbonetics and they seem to only be for the evo

are we just stuck with a gear type Quaffe?

looking for non-drag spec lsd's, prefering somthing for X-cross and cone killing

Since this is a FWD platform the helical gear LSD will prove to be the smoothest out there as far as transferring power between the two wheels. Anything more aggressive and you are going to have problems maintaining a smooth line because the car will want to jerk all over the place while you are accelerating.

Couldn't be more right.

Clutch-type lsd's are pretty agressive either way you look at it. I wouldn't go as far as putting a carbon disk lsd on anyway. Sure, they require less maint and are virtually silent but you'll still have that 'WOW' going from corner to corner. Gear-types are as smooth as a baby's ass and silent. Plus, no disks to overheat if you drive your car like you stole it and dont give a fuck.

Or the OBX if you want to do it on the cheap. (~$425 vs ~$1200)

I have only heard of a couple of broken OBX diffs and they were due to pressing out a broken axle someone not replacing the washers.

They work and they are cheap but they need to be torn down, inspected, and put back together. Clearly the best OBX product out there.

I can supply you with the the upgraded washers and bolts for $32 shipped if you go with the OBX.

lol, obx sux. its a china product, they cant even make toys, dog food or tooth paste right without a massive recall...

ive read u have to clean up burrs, put bevel washers in , and with the right orientation and re-torque bolts...

imo, get the quaife, it what i did. no sence in tearing the tranny apart 2 or 3 times b/c u cheaped out on parts and the diff exploded.

No dice on the obx.

A certain 2gnt member bought one and there was an issue with the axle seats being machined improperly. One axle would not clip on. Obx gave him the run-around when it came down to a warranty and then he bought a quaife.

nothing against OBX, but for as many problems as weve proven with some of there products not fitting, cracking, and warrenty runarounds, i aint trusting them for this one.
i know ill sleep better knowing that my $1100 investment is gonna stay put in my tranny for a while.
cuz i hate uncontained disassemblies of anything dealing with my engine.
