OK guys, hopefully you can help me. I've had my 2GNT for almost 2 years now, and I've replaced just about everything on the car (myself, thanks to you guys) including the motor, and so on.
Last fall, my automatic tranny died. I put a used one in with about 80-85k on it this spring. It had a tad bit of water in with the fluid, but not much, I think it was just from sitting so long, because the fluid was really clean. I did the shift kit and everything in the valve body looked nice and everything looked great.
So after about 200 miles on the tranny, something started rattling at idle and above 4kish RPMs. I checked everything, its nothing on the accesory side of the motor, I listened to everything with a steth and it sounds like its coming from the bellhousing. It gets a lot louder if you put the headlights or the A/C on, pretty much anything that draws voltage (load on motor). The tranny shifts great, so I'm thinking its not anything inside the tranny, and the motor runs great too (10k on it) so I doubt its anything internal in that.
So last week, I replaced the Torque converter with a new one. So I start the car, sounds perfect. No more rattling at all. I was thrilled. Two days later, the exact same noise starts again. I am gonna go nuts now...It still sounds like its coming from the bellhouseing. I cant figure this out. Any ideas?
Thanks guys.
