hey everyone. I have a 97 spyder gs with the 4g64. Ive done some searching but havent found much info on this engine. i just bought another 97 spyder gs that was wrapped around a tree so i can pull the block and rebuild it. I wanted to use forged pistons, and rods, and build it up really good. I've heard great things about eagle rods about how they are nice and light? What are your oppinions on rods and pistons? I want it to be bulletproof basicly. Its my daily driver so i don't need a 700 horse beast, but i would like to crank up the boost to a nice level when the time arrises, so a block thats built to take high 300, maybe somewhere in the 400 range would be nice, but still be able to back it off to around 6-8 pounds when just driving around to bring me up around the 250 range. If someone has a page that gives the full teardown and rebuild of this engine, that would be awsome. or any recommendations on a great set of rods and pistons. i know stock internals can't take more than about 6-7 lbs on that engine. so any help would be great. thanks alot guys.

To start off I'm going to say I know nothing about that engine.

However if you want to get some name brands,

JE and Weisco pistons are great. The Eagle rods are good unless you plan on breaking the 500hp. As far as piston rings the best I can tell you is don't get Total Seal.

Here is my setup:

JE Pistons 8.8:1
Eagle long rods
Clevite main bearings
Clevite rod bearings

I can comfortably run 15psi and with MSnS the car dynoed at 267WHP.
