whats up, has any of you guys done a stroker 2.2L 420a???? i dont want the 2.4L, i was just giving it a thought. if i were to stroke my engine out i know i would need different pistons, but the rods would remain the same right?? will stroking it affect the rev limiting of the engine??? or will it affect my turbo build?

yes many have done it, a quick search for 2.2l should net you some good info. Also do a search for howell automotive or howell stroker, or google them and checkout their site, they have a 2.2l stroker kit.

Isn't Howell the only one that makes a stroker for the 2.0 420a?
Strokers require a larger crank and shorter rods. Factory pistons usually work, but you know about the "might-as-wells". Howell's kit is complete.
Stroking an engine raises the peak piston speed, and depending on rod angle, the pistons dwell time as well. This would normally bring the need to lower your effective rev limit, but Howell's kit uses stronger-than-stock components, so you ought to be able to enjoy your factory rev limit, not to mention that it is not a very large increase in throw.
The howell stroker kit uses a callies forged crank. They used to reweld stock cranks but they havent done that in quite a while. The crank is bulletproof and well designed using chamfered oil holes and winglets/knife edged type (not quite) fillets. The stock cranks havent failed for many people but it's added strength just in case. Stock sized rods are used and should be matched to your power level. The piston used has the pin moved up overally making the piston seem shorter when on the rod. You must overbore 20 over to get 2.17 or so liters and 40 over for the 2.21 or so displacement advertised. You do not have to buy it from howell, although he did design the kit. The callies crank, any company's stock sized rods (depends on your desired power goal), and many piston manufacturers including cp and je make the pistons. It is cheaper bought elsewhere than from Howell. Hope that helps, keep your eye out Im putting my car back together lots of boost + stroker kit = hopefully lots of fun driveable power.
