Monday and Tuesday I recently put on my new header and whole exhaust system. Everything went pretty good and we got everything on. I've been driving the car this past week regularly and havnt had any problems really except for these...
1. When at a stop light or just idling I have low rpms then the car feels like its going to die so i give it a lil gas and its back to normal. What causes this?
2. When we took off the stock exhaust system we forgot about the oxygan sensor that was still attached at the middle of the exhaust. Heres a pic.
3. Today was the first day the CEL came on and im not sure why..Im thinking its the sensor but the sensor on the header might be bad too? Im not really sure, it doesnt look broke at all but you can see a lil white where its not covered with the protective wireing? im not even sure what its called but my dad thinks its the sensor on the header. What should I check to see what the problem is??
One more question.
4. These are my mods...
4-1 header 2.5" inlet with 4in tip exhaust system intake
Does anyone have thses basic mods but with NO CEL?
Please reply!
Thank YOU!!

Here's the skinny on O2 sensors...
*You absolutely NEED the front sensor. *The front O2 sensor is used for making crucial air/fuel ratio calculations by the ECU. *No front O2 sensor = badly running car. *Broke/dying/dirty front O2 sensor = badly running car (intermittently or permanently).
*You don't need the rear O2 sensor. *The rear O2 sensor is used to determine effectiveness and presence of the catalytic converter. *A missing/broken/dirty rear O2 sensor will just cause a CEL. *If you don't want the rear O2 sensor, for whatever reason (no cat, primarily), install an O2 sensor simulator -- I make them, just ask.
*O2 sensor simulators cannot be used in lieu of the front O2 sensor...
With that said, I think something is wrong with your front O2 sensor.

This is false. Some year ECUs (97 i know for a fact) will flag an O2 failure as an O2 failure, regardless of whether it is front or rear. The result is a fat fuel map and reduced timing.
