I had a dillema not to long ago about wether to go turbo or stay NA and for the time I said I would go turbo but I lied and am going to stay NA just because it is different. So I am looking for headers and have come to a stalemeate question. Which is better 4-2-1 or 4-1 I was looking and was going to go with an E-bay header until I saw the Pacesetter design of the 4-2-1 and hit the fork in the road so I wana know what you guys think and Cap I hope you read this. I did not post this on the other post to surprise you. YEA ...

P.S. - I have a 2.5 Tsudo N1 Exhaust and dont mind the absence of a cat.

if you want nice grunt in the lower rpm's go with a 4-2-1, if you want to make a few more ponies up top, 4-1 honestly I don't think you will notice much of a difference either way, both open up the exhaust flow nicely, the runners should be equal length on a good design, nobody makes a long tube header for the eclipse 420a, if they did it would be the best.

Pretty much covered the info here.

I have no problem with the E-bay headers. Just a couple of things. You might want to grind out the inside weld spots on the runners (I had to on a couple of mine. AND you wil probably get 4-1 headers, even if they say 4-2-1 headers. Gotta look close at the pics (and they are not necesarily corect with what they are sending. I sent back a couple when I wanted 4-2-1's and I finally gave up and just 4-1.

Which do you perfer thou the 4-2-1 or the 4-1 I just want to know if the 4-2-1 will not give me as much top end as the 4-1. Because I will go to pacesetter for a 4-2-1. Also with the E-bay header that you went with do you remember the name of the seller.

P.S. - And surprise Cap another NA brotheren born.

It wasn't a lie if, at the time, you felt that turbo was the best choice. Being different is part of the appeal, but I have to show the big, expensive, painful picture that makes up most of the all motor way of life or I'm not being fair to people, imo.

Oh man. You're so close! When you truly know your goals, you can better phrase the question (or find the answer in the search utility). Your question above should be prefaced by one of the following: I will be drag racing this car and want as much absolute peak power as I can get out of it. -or- I want a fun NT that's got more balls on the street while I get my all motor game plan nailed down.

As Mark said, you'd be hard-pressed to not get a 4-1 at your door regardless of what design you actually order. I'm fairly certain that Pacesetter never offered anything other than a 4-2-1, so that would be the one to get if that's what you decided imo.

For the record, the catalytic convertor is required on a Federal level. Any cop in the country can write you a ticket for not having one and the government can issue fines up to $10,000 for tampering with them. I've never heard of anyone getting pinched for it, but it's worth mentioning. Otherwise, I'd say you want a high flow cat in order to avoid that annoying exhaust rasp you'll pick up with a test pipe or straight through exhaust system. When shopping for a high flow cat, be sure you get a true convertor. 90% of the "high flow cats" you'll find on Ebay are nothing more than a bullet style muffler and don't really do anything imo.

Here's some more reading on the subject:

you are 100% correct there DR1665, I've seen the ebay "cats" that's all they are most of the time. makes our cars sound like the dipshits with cheap ass mufflers on hondas.

Ok. So the 4-1 is ok but I think I wana go with the 4-2-1 because it offers more low end torque and I am gonna be driving this more on the street anywayz. If I am one thing, I am realistic I just wanna challenge and a nice QUICK car. Plus as we all know or will come to learn in the street a lead is a win so I wana car with some power down low in the power band.

Haha. "It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile - winning is winning." Right? I'll see your Toretto and raise you a Spilner. "I like the tuna here."

At this point, it sounds like you've got it figured out. www.team-integra.net/sections/articles/showarticle.asp?ArticleID=48 Lots of good info in there. What's really ironic is that the article is over five years old. If only more Honda guys were reading stuff like this in their own communities...

Shop around for a used Pacesetter. I picked mine up for $60 about three, four years ago and it's held up fine. I know a guy out here in Phoenix who is considering making true long tube, stepped headers with merge collectors for our platform in the future. Might be worth having, but not worth waiting for at this point.

Yeah I going to look for one then and hopefully it will be a good header and deal like you got. I am not worried about looks to much as I will wrap it up in exhaust rap or something but I hope I can find one soon cause the E-gay sales people are quite convincing.

Don't expect e-bay advertised power gains.

I wont but if Cap uses an E-gay header then I think I will be ok using one too. And if anyone has used an ebay header what company did they buy from and how did it perform.

Just search for "pacesetter header eclipse" and it should bring up a lot of results. Buy from someone with good feedback.

Basically there are two designers for headers for these cars....Greddy, and DC Sports Ebay headers are normally 4-1 which are like the Greddy, they should hold up alright, and flow fine with just a little work, I would recommend trying to find a good used DC Sports, or Greddy header, they have the quality and flow you are looking for!
