#104694, "420a EGR removal"

Okay guys, looking for some help here. I know that when you take off the egr on the 420a it can throw 2 check engine lights, one for not having the solenoid and then the flow one for cold starts. Does anyone know what and where the resistor mod goes to trick the ecu into thinking that the egr solenoid is still on the car?

"All you need to do is plug the EGR tube. you can make a block off plate for the tube flange for the intake mai and egr. that will allow the egr solenoid to operate and it wont throw a code. The other choice is to remove the entire egr ect and use a resistor at the egr electrical plug. you will still need to plug up the intake hole. Terry"

"I have a 97' i just used block off plates and COMPLETELY removed the EGR system. Used a 10watt 100ohm resister and plugged it into the sensor harness. I get one about every 3 months. Reset the ecu and it's gone. Really im getting tired of writing out this information, i have posted this at least 4 times in the last 6 months."

I'm also looking into doing this, but can I still pass Obd2 inspection in NC without the egr? Thanks in advance.

No not yet, I am due for one this month, I do see a lot of other guys from states tougher inspection laws getting away w/ this so I might as well try as well.

I don't think he was trying to be rude. We just see the same questions asked often that it becomes kind of repetative to answer them everytime. Try getting used to our search engine as it is a bit different from other forum's. Try using search terms like "egr remove" in the search terms and try switching the "Search which fields" section to "Subject only" to get some better results. It takes a bit of effort sometimes to find what you are looking for, but eventually you find it. Welcome by the way to the site, hope you enjoy your stay.

the search function here is better than a ton of other forums, on most of the other forums out there you can be super specific and still come up with 1500 pages to wade through trying to find your info.
