#104478, "Engine rebuild, part questions"

So this is my first post to 2gnt. I've read through a lot of the articles and you guys have been a great deal of help. My rings are bad so I have decided to tackle my first engine project and replace them. I only plan to drop the oil pan, take off the head, and then push the pistons and rods straight up. I have also decided to upgrade to ARP head studs. Basically I just want some reasurrance on the parts I'm getting.

ARP Studs:

Head Gasket:

The HG I'm a bit perplexed about. My engine is bored out @ .040 over. Wouldn't that mean the holes for the cylinders in my gasket need to be wider? All the gaskets I've found (Summit, Howell, CI) do not state anything about bore sizes. Am I just crazy and the bore doesn't effect the gasket size? In which case could anyone give me a direct link to the gasket I need?

Thanks for the help, everyone here has been a great help so far.

Oh ya, rings are taken care of. JE, Total Seal sucks.

Yes, ARP-141-4202 is what you want

The stock MLS headgasket can handle a .040" overbore.

I don't recommend doing the rebuild the way you envision. It is actually more work to keep the block in the car and work around it than to simply remove it. As well, you'd want to at least hone the cylinders so the new rings will seat with is harder to do properly with the engine in the car.
