I've searched but haven't really found anything to help yet. I took my engine out to paint my engine bay. When it was running the timing was off by a tooth. When I went to install the new belt I took the old one off before getting the crank sprocket to a 1/2 tooth before tdc. Now the crank is a little past 9:00 position and the cams are way off from each other. How can I get the cam marks to face each other and the crank sprocket in the tdc position with out no belt and without hitting a valve????? I don't know if I should put the belt back on and rotate the crankshaft till it's where i need it or what.. I'm kinda in a bind also I need this done relatively quick so i can get the engine back in. Please Please help me, any advice would be great.

You should be fine where the crank is now to move your cams. Just turn your cams slow and don't try to force them if it feels like it is binding. Then you can move your crank.

yup, just be easy and don't force anything, (it's a little tricky since you've gotta work past the tension of the springs)

two wrenches, or just feed the belt around and adjust it by hand, I've done both. it's gonna want to go a little off cause of the valve spring pressure.
