Ok. I paid $1,500 for my car last month. Let me know how bad i got ripped.

I knew it needed a new valve cover gasket and whatnot. No biggie, car runs and chirps in second and third. Tranny grinds sometimes in forth but it's a random grind. Clutch is new. So, i go for a drive to just listen to the car. I'm in second and stop at the stop sign up the street from my house. The clutch is out and i get ready to start off so i go to shift into first. Wouldn't shift. Ok. So i took my foot off the clutch, pushed it in and it goes into first. I was searching for what's up. Linkage is fine, master cylinder isn't fucked because my carpet is clean..... I checked the slave just now. It's good. I figure, easy...clutch just needs to be bled and could use some fluid. I can do that wonderful restrictor removal while i'm at it.....

Well, there's oil on my valve cover so i'm like, fuck it. I do a search on here and find there could be oil in my cylinders. I got dizzy when i read that. To check, all i have to do is pop the plug wires/plugs out of the valve cover and if they come out easy and oil is all over...man, i didn't even want to think about it. I expected it though.

I pop the wire out of cylinder 4. It comes out almost effortlessly. OIL. OIL IN MY FUCKING CYLINDER. 2 and 3 are snug in there and aren't comming out without a fight so i'm guessing they're fine. I pop the wire out of cylinder one. Same deal as 4. Easy out and OIL. What the fuck am i supposed to do? How do i go about fixing this? I know the gasket is a good source of the problem. There's gunk between the cover and head that i'm guessing is either gasket goo or whatever. It's pretty soft. I have oil leaking from the tranny side of the engine by the head comming from the cam seals. And it's also leaking from around this circular shaped thing close to the intake pipe on the head closest to the front of the car.

Could i also have blown rings?

I'm about to say fuck it and get rid of the car. Every time i do something i'm proud of, i get knocked 3 steps back by broken shit. My reverse lights dont work, my driver side side marker doesn't work, i think i have a/2 bad ball joints instead of the cv like i had thought earlier..... The power steering was shit when i got the car so the whole system is in the trash right now and i have the lines looped. No biggie but it was a fucking headache.

Somebody help me and calm my ass down before i do something even more stupid than buying this turd.

Dude... Relax... A leaking gasket is the least of life's worries.

Replace your valve cover gasket, clean the wires, and throw some new plugs in.

Check for air in your clutch hydraulic system. May just need to be adjusted.

Well, that wasn't much but it helped.

Ordering new gaskets this month. Until then, the car will sit and do absolutely nothing but dream about running smooth.

Yeah, a leaky gasket is a small worry in the grand scheme of life.

I just got frustrated a bit. Haha.

Other worries i block out with my car though. For instance, my ex has been stalking me for 6 months. She cheated on me and i found out after we broke up and she just can't seem to fathom why i dont want her when she thinks i'm the greatest guy in the world..... Women. My car takes my mind off alot.

Peace out.

LOL, wow guys same here about my ex. wife. I a myspace also, but this is my second one my firts profile was deleted. She has one too, and someone told I had a picture of my daughter on my profile so bitch and bitch to Tom on myspace and they ended up deleting my profile. So, I revamped up a new one and I made sure she couldn't find it again by doing searches etc. I added frapper and trakzor, just to see if my ex. and her friends sneak a peek into myspace.

What you can do is go that person's myspace profile, go to their contact table, click on block. This blocks that person from going to your myspace, and also while your at your myspace go to your account settings, click on your Privacy settings, click on view by your frineds only, and also switch to your comments.messages to be approved by you.

Yup, I've done this too! If you guys need help with your myspace let me know I'll be glad help you out.

Some can relate cars as women, LOL I could but its about an old Ibanez guitar have it used to be my Ex's I won three but I always go this damn guitar, its not pretty as looks but it sounds good.

Wow. Just...wow. Yeah, my ex made a myspace in march specifically to speak to me. Man, i actually called her up 3 weeks ago the same day i bought my car and she didn't pick up her phone so i left her a calm, short voicemail telling her to quit driving by my house, get a life and i'm over her. Reason being is even though my car is a piece of shit right now, it's my baby. I dont want anything to happen to it. Somebody...wonder who, had set fire to a planter underneath my propane grill (thank god it didn't catch) right before i got back from Charlotte, NC with the car! I came home and my mom had told me it was on fire and the dog was barking so she put it out with the hose. Not only did somebody try to do me in, but my family to. Dunno if it was her or not but who else could it be? I dont have any enemies besides her.

So, pretty much i'm done with the whole love/dating thing. Well, i consider my car my soulmate actually. I couldn't sell it. No way. I mean, i can't hit it but there's always the club scene for that. Buy them a few drinks, get a hotel room, chicka-bow-bow....never call them again. Girl straight up turned me into an asshole toward the opposite sex. I mean, granted it's probably because i date all the hotties and they turn out to be crazies and turn the not so hot ones down and they turn out to be my best friends but nothing more..... Shit sucks. But yeah, i'm unofficially married to my eclipse. Especially since i topped it out at 140mph and it chirps in 3rd on 2 cylinders. A car can be fixed. A car can be changed A crazy bitch will always be a crazy bitch.

After i get my repair manuals, spark plugs, wires, and gaskets, I have a buddy who's going to lend me an engine hoist and another guy i work with that i've known for a while offered to help me with my gaskets. He's done it before. He likes working on cars and probably knows double what i know. He said, "we'll make a day or two out of it and work late into the night if we have to. It'll be fun." Haha. While i'm at it, we can replace my input shaft bearing, bleed my clutch, replace my piston rings, shorten my head bolts, and remove the clutch slave restrictor.

Ugh. I've also decided that i'm going to paint my car myself. I'll buy a compressor, gun, and then i'll spend a few hours looking through color catologs until i find the "shade of black" i want to lay on the car. That dry ice dent popping doesn't work. I'm just going to glass the shit over and replace my gas door with a carbon piece.

I'm not giving up yet. Haha.

Yup,love'em and leave them, women play this game always( they care more about the money than the guy ) My Ex. played Big time, she was what every guy looked for in a women. Well, I hooked up with her after my father passed away, yup he left me with nice Fat annunity. I didn't tell about it til after we tied the knot because she told me she didn't about the money at all. This was a croc, she was sneaking a little at a time in a seperate account. Till, it came where I had none left, and she switch from being nice to a bitch Bi Polar, we faught all the time, I knew what she was doing but she/parents denied it. She, half to remodel her parents house the siding, and rest was in the bank, her parents worked but couldn't afford to have their house resided. I got fed up with told her to leave so, took my kid and the computer( Retarded what would I want computer for) I had one of my own, drr. So, I just cleared out the house and just left her clothes, and daughters clothes, looked like some robbed the house. LOL, Her mother had the nerve to came to my new apartment, wanted my cat and said its not fair that took everything. I just smiled at her, told her whatever good bye. I would get rid my account for Myspace, but its only way I could get a hold my older sisiter from Michigan and family. Was thinking about moving near Norwalk, cause its only a half hour drive to my sister's house and to see my daughter. Its not offical yet but thinking about it, Its worth the drive either direction.

Advance Auto has compressors everything you'll need to paint your car. You could rent them or buy it, prices are decent. I've been looking at them there, when I go.

Wow. Hellspawns they are.

The friend i have who is lending me an engine hoist also has a compressor.

He just got an 81 rx7 for free. Needs some work but the rotary motor is rebuilt with all new goodies. He's just gotta cut the cat out and weld in a straight pipe so it will run. Aparently, something is wrong with it and it's causing a fuckload of backpressure so the car will stall out but it runs with an open header and fuck does it sound evil. But point is, he's gotta get his shit painted and wants to do it in black too. Might as well paint both cars at the same time so we're both looking into options right now.

Yeah guys. Let's keep this on topic.

MySpace feeds off the souls of the insipid and lax. No need to bring it up in a technical forum.

Hope the new VC resolves your issue. This line make me LOL.

Oh fuck yeah. That made me smile.

Hopefully *fingers crossed twice* there isnt any lube sitting on top of my pistons. I doubt the car would be able to chirp in 3rd on 2 cylinders actually so that makes damn good sense.

I'm anxious about the teardown but i'm prepared for the worst too.

Karking.com has a rebuilt 420a going for $1100+$150 core exchange and free shipping. Longblock. I'll also be lurking the buy, sell, swap forum for stuff too. Some of you guys pratically give parts away and i'm stoked on that.

Yeah guys. Let's keep this on topic. MySpace feeds off the souls of the insipid and lax. No need to bring it up in a technical forum. Hope the new VC resolves your issue. This line make me LOL.

Until you remove the spark plug itself, you can't see into the cylinder, so keep that in mind. I'm happy to have all four plugs drowned in oil, so long as it's on the top side. emoji

There's gonna be lube sitting on top of your cylinder if you don't soak all of that oil up in the spark plug well before pulling the plug. Also there is a potential for hydro lock if enough oil falls into the cylinder. But this is common sense right?

This thread gives me hope (about cars) and fears (about my new girlfriend of two days). Seems like a nice girl, but I'll have to be careful as always.

Glad to help. emoji

Here's all you really need to become an A-list DSMer.

1. A willingness to learn things for yourself. This means you spend a lot of time reading and researching things. Now, you don't have to spend five hours reading sixty threads about changing a gasket, but do yourself a favor and at least spend enough time that you can word your post in such a manner as to show that you've at least tried. This is where you learn how to do things to the car. This is where you get ideas for what you want to do to your car.

2. Reasonable goals. If you take some time to think about how you will drive the car when it's done (and while it's in process), you will be better able to develop a plan of action which gets you where you want to be for the least amount of time and money. The journey is still the destination, but this means the difference between having fun with what you're doing and cursing the day you were born on a daily basis.

3. Determination to persevere. The number of people on this board with built motors who had previously built motors for other cars is slim. Even then, everyone has to start somewhere. You have to remind yourself that A) doing it yourself will save you a LOT of money and B) if you can take it apart, you can put it back together again. Don't let the thought of doing something scare you away from at least trying to do it. Do what you fear most and you control fear. There is enough information on this site to allow you to rip your engine apart from spark plugs to bedplate-to-block o-ring a hundred different ways.

Now, your first order of business is to get that oil off the plugs before you remove them or you *will* have oil all over the cylinders. I generally try to roll up a couple sheets of paper towels loosely, then slip them down into those wells and around the plugs. It takes a couple tries, but you will eventually get the oil out of there.

Then you want to think about which you would rather drop $1500 on - a junkyard engine or a rebuild kit for you own (assuming you even need to rebuild).

Just some food for thought.

I'm a whore. If you look under people's screen names, you will see a link which allows you to rate them and give them points. If someone helps you out, give them +2, man. As you help others, you'll get them in return.
