holy what batman?
first off you can only "bolt on" so much stuff before you actually have to pay attention to your car and imprtant stuff like egt's, fp, and a/f ratios to get it right
the 420a isnt some magic engine that you can "bolt this on and get 70hp!!" like some of the factory DEtuned jdm/ukdm supercars
power from our cars takes blood, sweat, and work

its called tuning

secondly what "box into my ECU piggy back it on the cheap" are you talking about?
MSnS? some Vennom modual? a Blitz/aem/hks/apexi/etc whatever?
specific questions about specific problems with specific equipment helps us a ton

Sorry bout that, the Megasquirt. Sorry I don't know much about electronics I just got this car thinking I could pay a shop to hook a turbo up and that was the end of the story hehehe boy was I wrong emoji

I saw another type that works like the Megasquirt but I can't think of what it is right now I think it's called a apexi or something like that?

Not that Venom thing I'd get that but I wanna see my car run for some time to come and I heard bad things about that box emoji

I ran across a site where everybody reviewed the Venom some said good some said bad but what does this info/ad really mean?

"The Venom 400 performance control module is an add on control unit that features it's own micro-controller. This module is connected to the throttle position sensor and the Manifold absolute pressure sensor, and by monitoring the sensors output characteristics and modifying the input signal to the vehicles existing ECU."

Ok back on subject and no cat calls or calls for my head! emoji

I like the ease of on off of the Venom but I was looking for something that had real punch not a halogram under my foot and that has an on/off switch not a plug into my lap top reset anybody got any ideas?

Heh......um, I'll go with this one. IF you are a 97, you can use the AF/X ECU from Howell. Depending on your mods, that will give you the most "punch" for a plug and play. Ohterwise, the other known good piggybacks (or standalones) for our cars will require modification.

We're really having to go through this again? First off, search through this sub-forumn:

http://forums.2gnt.com/dcboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=54

The only real power you are going to gain from an engine control mod is there. Everything else (aside from the AF/X) is going to be diminishing returns. The Venom is trash, the S-AFC f's with the timing in a negative way, and the resistor chips you buy on e-bay are only good for shoving up your... well, we'll just say they're no good.

You can tune, I promise you that, just take the time to read everything out there several times and educate yourself, you'll have the ability to tune a fuel computer with the big dogs.

Reason enough to NOT do it.

MSnS is the only real tuning product worth a damn for this platform.

AFX ECU is great, but they're hard to come by, cost as much as a full MSnS set up, and might take a year or more to arrive (despite being "in-stock").

Please forget everything you have heard before visiting this site. Don't buy anything until you are 100% certain of what it does and that you need it. Get a lot of opinions before buying. There are dumbasses everywhere and they love to spread the disease. There are much fewer people that actually understand modifying cars and generally won't track you down to inform you.
