i have taken mine out twice now in the past 2 months. the easiest way i think would be to remove the motor mount on the passenger side, and jack the motor up as high as you can. Take the belt off, then take off the adjusting bolt on the top of the alternator. Remove that adjusting bolt from the alternator(will take some work to do). then take the bottom bolt off. once you have the the alternator free remove both wires from the alternator. one is a clip and the other will take an 10mm or 8mm socket to remove. if the motor is high enough it will slide out between the side wall and the axle. First time took me about 30 mins. 2nd time about 10 mins. I'm in the process of replacing a head. So much fun with the motor still in the car.

easier way to do it is.....unbolt the throttle and cruise assembly from the firewall and move it out of the way....then you can unbolt the altenator let it sit there, then unbolt the 2 bolts to the altenator bracket and you can pull it out through the top between the intake manifold and wheel well
