Ok guys, i bought a 95 eclipse rs with a 420a. i was looking to pull everything out and rebuild from complete scratch. the more i read people or non stop sayin that putting a 4g63 is a waste of time, which i have a lot of...and some say the 420a is better but wont last long if high performanced. So im here in the heart of the 420a engine fans....tell me What do i have to do to the block and heads to make this 420a engine last, while still putting out some serious hourses and turboed???

First, you need to browse around the forums a bit. This is posted in the wrong section.

And since you say that you are in the heart of 420a members, wouldn't there be a wealth of info here that you could search about here emoji. There is a ton that you can do to the 420a, too much to list here.

Welcome to 2gnt.

Thanks so much for responding, i will look and see where would be the right place to post this, as for looking through here for the info that im looking for, i have yet to find it, and am getting tired of going through page by page, its faster and easier to just be up fron and asking for help. If i felt that i could just easily looks this up i would of, but i couldnt so i asked. I appologized if somewhere long down the road someone did ask these questions, but i dont have the time to go back that far in the archives to read them. Plus it gives you "Pro's" something to do by answering something you all probably have a ton of experience on. would it really hurt to just answer them instead of just replying,"use the search key"?? but again thank you, and please if anyone else out thier has any other info to help me out wiuld be much appriciated emoji

You don't have time? Unless you have all the tools and engine building experience needed to put a built engine together in a weekend and have to get the car on the road so you can drive it to work on Monday, then I'd say you have plenty of time.

You are right that you've found the singular source for 2GNT information and you're right that we want to lend a hand, but look at it this way, we've got a fully stocked fridge and you're welcome to all the beer and sammiches you can handle, but you gotta be able to get it yourself. Ask us where the mayo is in there, or if we think an import beer would be better than a domestic (always), but don't ask us to make a sammich for you, okay?

I'll get you started. Check out the www.2gnt.com/www/dino/wiki_testing/index.php?d=Power%20Stages in the Wiki. There's a good two plus hours of reading material there covering pretty much everything you'd ever want to know.

Also, when using the search utility on this site, try narrowing your search a bit to get better hits. Instead of typing "turbo" and then hitting "Enter," try typing, "custom turbo kit," selecting the turbo forum, and searching subject only. You'll see the threads make more sense that way.

I'm moving this thread to performance/engine, as this area is for questions about the website and community in general. Welcome to 2GNT.

My favorite metaphor to tell FNG's how to search.

The Wiki has good info on it. Definetly check it out, and then add yourself to the members map and get a member profile up. You are a part of 2gnt now!

Hey, DR1665, how do you spell "sandwich" one more time?

Build the motor, c'mon, you can do it!

No, but seriously do lots of reserch before you consider that too much. A lot of us have become great mechanics because of these cars and this site. There is a wealth of knowledge here. I would start by spending your first weekend reading and serching, print stuff if you need to. Get a pad of paper and start making lists of what parts to start looking for, stores online to get parts from, machine shops in your area...reserch...you know. This would be a great place to start. Your going to be spending quite a bit of time and sweat on this project. You will mess up a lot of times too. But it's great for you, it's all part of the learning curve.

Good luck-

Indeed I did. emoji

Toasted club sammich on rye with the cheese all melty? Oh hell yes.

Back on topic. :quint

Perhaps the first rule of any community like this is:

The more help you give, the more help you recieve.

In this case, by showing us that you helped yourself to some knowledge from the fridge, er, search, by asking specific questions which reflect some effort on your part, you are more likely to get serious answers.

We're not out to be dicks, man. We really want to help you out, but we're trying to bring more respect to our community by having members who make things happen, rather than a lot of the people you find out there who just sit back and wait for it.

Dig?

You want to tear into that thing and build it into a ground-pounder? The recipe is already written. Read the cookbook and then ask us what we think of the tweaks you've made to it.

(What's with the food metaphors up in here?) emoji

DR1665, you rock. Any who, the way I saw it, there is no way ANY one can give you a complete answer in one post, and maybe even one thread. We (wow I cant believeim part of 2gnt emoji ) want you to go through all the wealth of information gathered here, and realize: "damn this is THE place to stay at if I really want to learn" no only has all that information already been gathered, but it is updated EVERY day, and will keep changing untill the last one of us, dies or totals/sells the eclipses. Any who, I shoudnt even be talking because I probably am the member with the least experience in performance mods...

No man Sammich is definately correct. Maybe not for Audi or Infinity driving upper middle class. But for us 2gnters who don't have enough $$ to pay big name shops to build our cars for us, and have to settle for building them our selves, Sammich is definately proper grammer.

Haha. For the record, I am, indeed, aware of how to properly spell "sandwich." My use of "sammich" was, believe it or not, an attempt at an en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eggcorn Not the best attempt, I'm the first to admit, but an attempt none the less.

If your correcting me on my spelling was done in jest, then together we point and laugh at Edexmon, the recipient of the recently dusted-off djtrickee BNOTY award. If you honestly thought I was so obtuse as to not know how to spell the word, then, well... Sorry?
