Hello everyone. I'm trying to return my car into decent condition and have one problem I'm unsure of how to fix, and that is the car shaking at high revs. As far as suspension goes, I think the problem is unrelated, but I have Tokiko Illumina Struts/Springs, which dropped my car 1.3". This problem is not noticeable under 40 MPH, but after I hit about 50 MPH and my cars revs through 4K - 6K RPM the whole car shakes uncontrollably, literally shaking me up and down. I fear this is a timing belt issue, or worse. Has anyone experienced this problem before? Any help would be greatful .

I doubt it's the timing belt. When have you had an alignment last?

Does it happen only at high rpms's or does it happen when your cruising over 60mph? If its the first I doubt its wheel related. if its the second then yes (alignment/wheel balance).

Hey thanks for the quick responses everyone. I've just had my alignment done, had my wheels rotated and balanced, brand new tires all around. The car only shakes at high RPM, I could be idling on the highway at 2800 RPM and not see a problem until I go to accelerate. When I had the work done on my car they checked to see what would be causing this problem, and they said there was a knot in my tire from before I had the alignment done, so I had it replaced. It turns out this didn't help, I'm stumped, as are they. Thanks again for the quick responses, and sorry I didn't further explain the situation.

You auto or manual?
Something I discovered when swapping my auto out for the manual trans i put in, my upper trans mount was cracked completely in half through the metal part. Whenever I would get close to redline i'd get this awful noise and shaking from the engine compartment. scared the shit out of me, but after the new trans and a whole mount was in I haven't had any problems.

Haha, sorry for bringing up bad memories. I took my car into several different shops in the area today and had them look at it. What it turned out to be is several things. Aparently, I am 'missing' all of my strut bar links, and my serpentine belt has cracks in it. I guess I will get all these fixed and hope to god it solves my problem.

I had an issue like this once. I had a tire go bad on me. The tread split down the middle and the tire grew about a half inche in that spot. It was pretty violent at speed. New tire and everything was all better. Take it to a tire shop and have them do a visual inspection. Its free here.
