Where can I get just retainers for crane springs? I have searched and can't find them. I ordered the top end kit from howell and it doesn't come with retainers, valve guides, locks, or valves. I know where to get everything but the retainers. I am looking into the titanium retainers because they are more than half the weight of the stockers.

You might be able to get the Titanium retainers directly from Crower. Check out their website. If they don't sell direct, there's a good chance they will let you search for a vendor who carries (or can get) their products.
I'd suggest ERT, since that's where I got mine, but it seems they've been left for dead somewhere in a ditch outside of Chicago these days. I don't think they answer any email these days.
EDIT: And you're right. The Titanium retainers are a fraction of the weight of the stockers and serve to reduce the load on the valvetrain. Less rotating mass translates into a happier engine.

I didn't know retainers rotated
You are right, though, that they reduce the load on the engine, but by having less mass that the lobe has to move while the cam's rotating.

I think i spoke with you on the phone earlier here at the shop?? Both Crane and Crower sell them but its actually cheaper just to get both the spring/retainer kit. thus why we dont sell them on our website... spring/retainer kits go for 269.99 while just for retainers your paying close to $300 bucks.. you could always sell the springs off for $90-100 bucks
