#102908, "Retainers???"

Where can I get just retainers for crane springs? I have searched and can't find them. I ordered the top end kit from howell and it doesn't come with retainers, valve guides, locks, or valves. I know where to get everything but the retainers. I am looking into the titanium retainers because they are more than half the weight of the stockers.

You might be able to get the Titanium retainers directly from Crower. Check out their website. If they don't sell direct, there's a good chance they will let you search for a vendor who carries (or can get) their products.

I'd suggest ERT, since that's where I got mine, but it seems they've been left for dead somewhere in a ditch outside of Chicago these days. I don't think they answer any email these days. emoji

EDIT:
And you're right. The Titanium retainers are a fraction of the weight of the stockers and serve to reduce the load on the valvetrain. Less rotating mass translates into a happier engine. emoji

I didn't know retainers rotated emoji

You are right, though, that they reduce the load on the engine, but by having less mass that the lobe has to move while the cam's rotating.

I think i spoke with you on the phone earlier here at the shop?? Both Crane and Crower sell them but its actually cheaper just to get both the spring/retainer kit. thus why we dont sell them on our website... spring/retainer kits go for 269.99 while just for retainers your paying close to $300 bucks.. you could always sell the springs off for $90-100 bucks

Yeah I spoke with you, I found some from Crower for $191. I just ordered the PEP valves, locks, and guids from CI though. Thanks for the help!

I ordered an oilpump and driverside prothan mount from them and got it very fast. Good service, so I decided to buy from the again.

Hopefully we dont have horror stories still going on about us, we dont some extensive changes as to how we run our business and also have improved shipping times etc etc.. All you guys gotta do is call in and we can tell you whats in stock and whats not, that way you know when to expect items, sometimes it gets crazy around here and we dont have a chance to get back to everyone in a timely manner like we would like.. or just hit me up on here and i WILL handle anything you have questions or concerns regarding...
