#102796, "420A w/ Underdrive Pulley - Need Help"

Hey guys, I have another question to rack your brains. I am rebuilding my 420A, and I recently bought an new harmonic balancer pulley (underdrive, so it's smaller). Does anyone here know the part numbers for the belts I would need to replace the stock belts, since the new pulley is so much smaller? Or is there a way to find out what size belts I need? (Car has a/c)

Do you know who made the pulley?

No, I dont have the make of the pulley.. but if it helps, the larger belt guide (on the new pulley) is the same size as the smaller belt guide (on the old pulley)

Edit: I might have a part number for the pulley at home (I am at my college right now)

Is it all aluminum with a steel insert (AFX, one piece), or a two-piece bolted together affair? (Unorthodox)

Ugh. Gross. Looks like a cheapass AFX knockoff.

You can probably use the same belts as any AFX pulley. Check the search for sizes.

Expect it to gall the crank. Aluminum on steel doesn't play all that well when you're pulling off or pressing it on.

the following are dayco PN's for the AFX with AC and PS

ALT= 5040300

AC/PS= 5050490

Start out trying those PN's from Advance if the pulley is any different size than the AF/X then they will be slightly larger/smaller. So go from there whether you need bigger or smaller just return the belt and get what you need the last 3 digets are the belt length. If you need a smaller belt just lower number of those by 5-10 at a time til you get it and if you need longer just increase the number by the same amounts.

Thanks for the help guys. Appreciate it. In the case that this pulley does not work out for me, where would you suggest that I order a quality one? (I am in Canada, mind you).

Ouch. Do yourself a favor and run away!

You can ruin your whole engine with a poorly balanced pulley.
