Ok so I have spent a shit ton of money and bought the best parts but my car will not run right. I had the motor rebuilt from top to bottom. The head has stage 2 crane cams with adjustable cam gears from fidanza, titanium valve springs and retainers, oversized valves, extrude honed head, .040 weisco pistons, and eagle rods. I also have a venom intake manifold. I did the rebuild due to a timing belt that had snapped. The problem is that the car is running so rich. I have a 255 walboro with 36 lb injectors. Proior to the rebuild the car ran fine with this fuel setup but now the car wont rev past six grand and looses all power, the air to fuel gauge is reading as rich as possible, and their is constatnt smoke coming out of the exhaust when i am accelerating. What is the ideal fuel setup for what i am running to lean the car out while I am not running a turbo. I plan to run one soon but am out of money right now. Oh yeah the pistons are low compression obviously. The motor also pops obviously when i let of the throttle due to the ton of extra fuel. Anyone who can help would be much appreciated. will a fpr allow me to keep this current fuel setup?

Oh boy....I think you have some reading to do. If I read your post correctly your are running a Walbro 255 and 36lb injectors with no form of FPR. At minimum you should have an S-FMU to lower idle/static fuel pressure. An S-FMU will allow you to run a turbo when you get around to the install. You could just get by with a 1:1 FRP if you want go with a more advanced fuel system like MegaSquirt (MS) or an extra injector controller (EIC) after you are boosted. But at this stage in your knowledge I would stear you away from those roads...for now. But the cheapest for now would be a 1:1 FPR...but that will require more investment when you are boosted, MS or EIC. An S-FMU is more expensive up front...but will work well for moderate boosting. But if you are like 90% of us, you will want something with more control over fuel and possibly spark later on. That will require to spend more money on a 1:1 FPR and control unit. The path you take is up to you....read the links below and start figuring out what you want the car to do for you.

Good points Kent. One other thing to check once you do work out your FPR or lack of. Your o2 sensor. You've been running so rich for so long you probably need to make sure it's still good. If you're o2 is bad the car will want to run really rich.

i have a boost sensitive fpr but the prior owner hooked it up incorrectly. I am not sure what 1:1 means but it has the disks that up the pressure or lower it. The guys that installed the engine said that the fpr dosent have a return line to the tank. They said it is going in a circle. how should the fpr be plumbed. Can anyone give me an idea of what fuel pressure i should run with these injectors to make it work for now on my na motor with the low compression. they said the pressure is 55lbs right now.

1:1 Just mean for every 1psi of positive manifold pressure there is the fuel pressure goes up 1psi.
