i just rebuilt my 420a engine, i decided to keep the tranny in the engine bay for this project. After my rebuild and the engine running fine i have some kind of pressurized leak. i'll put transmition fluid in and when i turn the car on, 30 sec later is will all start pouring out. when its off it doesnt leak. Its coming from above the transmition pan in the front and its a steady flow. I've looked through my manual to see is there is anything up there that can cause it but i cant find anything. Anyone have a idea on what is can be before i take it to a shop? Im in the navy and im out to sea right now for another 2 weeks and jan4 i leave for delpoyment, i need to get this car to maryland to leave for deployment at christmas witch is 240 mile drive. 2.0 bored/stroker

Is it automatic? If so, there are two lines that run to the radiator to cool the fluid. They're coupled from the transmission to the radiator with some rubber hose, check there.

There's also two sensors on the front of the ATX/a604 that have rubber gaskets that can leak.

Are you sure the fluid isn't coming from the bellhousing area? The input/output shaft seals might be worn or fell out while working on the engine. Pull the torque convertor or clutch off to inspect the seal.

But we really need to know what kind of transmission you have.
