my situation is, my engine got toasted and whatever could get warped got warped. so im deciding on a rebuild or a crate engine. the engines from - http://www.howellautomotive.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=405 - say they are race motors, but is that just to cover themselves incase anything happens? i have a 98 eclipse rs, and i don't really know which motor to choose. im looking for bottom and top end power, but doesn't have to be the best. just something affordable, with room to improve later on. i've searched the forums here for a while now and there isn't a motor in my area that i could find and so far i haven't had luck with salvage yards which is amazing. if anyone could help i'd appreciate it. thanks.

You could have answered your own question within 5 minutes of searching, so no you didnt search. Here is a quick search: type in CRATE.
if you want a good longblock, just buy one from howell. they come with good parts and there wont be a need to upgrade later unless you are building a "race" engine.
