ok so ive finally decided to put on my 60mm tb...and i took my upper manifold half to the machine shop to have the TB opening bored out to 60mm (dont particularly want to open up the intake just for another restriction right behind it...) and they told me that they couldnt bore out the opening...that it would remove too much material...what a crock of bull..so now im stuck with the delimma...do i just bolt it on anyway and live with the fact that im still not making optimum power or what? id bore it out myself but im not exactly sure how id go about making the template for how much material to remove...or how to do it.. thanks for the input

try doing it yourself and if you screw up by a jeep 60mm throttle body

He already has a 60mm throttle body. He's trying to figure out if he should bore his intake MANIFOLD out to match emoji I don't personally know how to do it correctly, but I'm sure other do. There has to be more than one machine shop in your area, you could possibly go try another one if you feel too iffy about it.

From what I hear the guy at the machine shop is right. He cant bore it to 60mm without having to add some aluminum or whatever our manifold is made from to it i believe where it bottlenecks. I have been told this before as well and I THINK 57mm is the most you can get it bored without having to add material.

WINNER.

This is exactly right. If you look at the manifold just after the TB, you'll see that it has a neck on it that curves inward. If the machine shop bored the opening to 60mm, the manifold would be cut in half at the smallest part of that neck. The best bet you can do is take the manifold back to them and ask them to bore that area out as far as they feel will not affect the integrity of the piece (perhaps 55-57mm), but also give them your lower intake manifold and have them machine the injectors humps down to almost a knife edge at the trailing edge over the injector pintle. This mod has been documented as being beneficial in the quarter-mile.

alright thanks for the input guys... yeah i wasnt sure what to think when i was told they couldnt do it..i was like "wha.." and i thought he was just being lazy or something... i would have taken it to another machine shop.. but the closest one is a good 3 hours or so away. but ill see if he can do the 55-57mm range and ill have him check out those injector bosses too emoji

Hey fella's
well i'm a newbie to this so here's my first post. i have an obx intake minfold that i got off of e bay for about two bills. that one would most definantly be able to support your throttle body, considering it's already after market. the only thing is your going to have to re tap the map sensor, and if you choose to block off the egr or retap that as well, reposition the throttle cable bracket, drill a hole for the pcv, and make a whole bigger for the brake air feed. it's alot of work but i think it would be worth it.
