Your battery does'nt have to be disconnected to get that cel code. Check your alternator and battery.

That code come up all the time.. but it's not an emissions code, so it'll never trip the CEL. If all you get with a CEL is a 12 and a 55, you've done something i've never seen before.

Anytime i've ever done the key dance i've gotten a 12 and a 55, whether there was a code in between or not. No CEL, i get a 12 and a 55. CEL, i get a 12, a real code, and a 55. No biggie.

Are you actually getting a CEL with a code 12?

yeah a cel and code 12 no 55 though. just 12 it came on before and went away. i think it's my pcm taking a shit. that thing has gone through it since i've had it after the backwards battery thing and the ac fan running for absolutely no reason
