well my car's been down for the past month because of a bad clutch. still haven't found a clutch yet but today i fire her up just for a warmup and i notice for the first time ever the muffler is spitting out black smoke, rev'd the shit out of her cause i thought the smoke would go away eventually but no, more and more kept on coming out. so i switch the car off and go take a look at my muffler and come to see that the muffler had spit out black shit all over the ground (looked like oil). there was also tons of black shit on the inside of the muffler. i am turbocharged running 10psi on a stock rebuilt engine 30lb injectors vortech sfmu etc etc.. i noticed my a/f gauge was going all crazy when i first fired her up. i've also had some issues with oil spraying all over my engine bay a couple of times. tried tightening the oil line etc. but looked like the oil was coming out of the valve cover gasket. but anyways never got a chance to check it. anyone got any ideas?

*edit* please don't tell me its my piston rings? emoji i just had the damn thing rebuilt at a local shop.

Sounds like you're running very, very rich

car was tuned at a local shop a month ago. they used a wideband, a/f was perfect and car went into boost smoothly. so i'm sure its not fuel unless somehow the sfmu reset itself? i don't think so. any other ideas?

If not running rich, other other thing would be either oil, or antifreeze... Do a compression test to see if it could be anything more. I am pretty sure that black smoke is gas though... Oil would be whitish... Someone correct me if I'm wrong though

well it sort of smelled like gas but i couldn't tell cause the car always smells like gas even when its off. im running 30lb injectors and my fp gauge reads 19-20psi at idle. that doesn't sound rich does it? it used to idle at 17psi before though.

Black smoke out of the tailpipe is gas. Blue is oil, white is coolant. You are running rich. Are you sure everything is hooked up to the sfmu properly? You should really get yourself a wideband.

your a/f gauge will mean shit until it's warmed up the o2 sensor and an sfmu doesn't just reset itself.

Maybe the diaprahm ins toast. Check your Fuel pressure at idle. If it's too high that would mean your running rich. Got a datalogger? What are your fuel trims like?

Maybe reset the ecu.
