Failed smog. Details here:

http://forums.2gnt.com/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=4&topic_id=86880&mesg_id=86880&page=

Looks like I need a new cat. Suggestions? OEM Cat? High flow one? Where to get it? How much? I've searched the forums, most I see people getting are the catco ones.

And will the High flow Cat from RRE work with my Greddy Evo 2.5 exhaust?

http://www.roadraceengineering.com/eclexhaust.htm

They have one for $150. It says 2G FWD. Not sure if they meant all 2G FWDs or just GSTs. If this would work, I'd prefer this setup, as they're pretty close by and I can pick it up.

Would really appreciate any information. Thanks.

EDIT: Nevermind, I thought you were turbo till I looked at your first post. I'd just get the cheapest thing that will fit and swap back afterwards, a hi-flow won't pass visual on our cars anyways, and probably won't do a lot more than your current old cat.

I see. I guess its time to go look around for a generic one in the area then. OEM Mitsu one is too much, $300+ from Norco Mitsu...

Autozone sells a universal one for the eclipse for $50 but it doesn't have the flanges to bolt it right up. You could always have a shop weld on some flanges that way you could remove the cat whenever you want.

For the guys who said the high-flow cat won't pass smog, that is simply incorrect.

The cat you buy should have a CARB number on it, but it isn't required. I have passed CA test-only smog 5 times with 2 different high-flow 2.5" cats, without any issues functional, visual, or otherwise.

Yes, a 2.5" RRE cat would be a perfect fit for your Greddy catback, but you have to weld the flanges on. There is no such thing as a GS-T compatible drop-in cat that fits a RS/GS.

I second about Magnaflow cat's, I cough, cough have that issue also.

I'm putting one on mine when it comes to doing from headers to back whole system. I'm planning everything out first, for my Dsm. emoji

Ah, thanks for the info Dan. Hehe, I read my post just now after I didn't see any replies for a few days. I emailed Mike W as well, pretty much said the same thing you said, get a raw 2.5 cat for $99.
