I have my head at a shop now getting shaved and pressure tested but last time I did my head gasket I bought ARP studs to go in. I put the moly lube on the nut end only just like it says to do but when i pulled them out of the head this time I didn't break them loose, it just turned the whole stud and pulled the whole thing out. Any body else had this happen and know a good way to seperate the nut from the stud?

Last time I had that happen, I ended up getting new studs, but not because of that issue.

Once the stud is out of the block, there is no more torque applied to the nut, and it should come off without too much trouble.

Hit it with a hammer, see if it loosens up.

Put two nuts on the other end of the stud, and tighten them together until the nut starts squishing. Put the two-nut side in a vise, and unscrew the stuck nut. Impact wrench and/or liquid wrench helps lots here.

I know that there should be no pressure on the nuts anymore but they seem to be stuck on there, I am going to try some liquid wrench or something like it. I just didn't want to stick them in a vice. I guess if I have to I will do like ^ said and used two nuts, or a hammer.

Hit them with some PB blaster. That might help. If you're putting the head back on do you really need to get them off? Just put them back and torque them down to spec.

Well I got them off by using a vice, but I called arp and asked them what the specks were in torqing them and they told me to do a 24 40 60 with arp moly lube and to put it on both ends, they also said that with regular anti siez and motor oil to torqe them to 80ftlbs. Just thought I would let somebody know.
