#100471, "HP limitations of 880cc injectors"

I am getting close to finishing my build, and now have 2 set of injectors which I don't think will do the job. Originally, I had a set of 440cc (which I am now selling)...and I found out that they would not handle my HP (long story)...I upgraded to 880cc, but now find out that they are limited to around 580HP at 90% Duty (which I don't want to run that high). 1000cc are going to be a bitch to tune...and I thought the 880's would work...but all my research now points to that sub 600 limit.

Any thoughts on the 880s would be appreciated!

More info on your setup would make this question alot easier to answer. I am willing to bet money that unless your running a garrett or similiar turbo you will never max out 880cc injectors. In fact.. your probably better off starting with lower injectors because unless your running a megasquirt or similiar standalone you won't be able to tune those injectors very well. If your using a s-fmu then good luck getting any decent kind of tune out of those.

The quick lowdown -

Garrett GT turbo
full built engine
MS-I - stock ECU ripped out
everything else I could possible do.

I'm aiming for 650 chp - I don't want to limit myself with the injectors, but as I said...1000cc are going to be hard to get idle on.

So your running stock cams and stock head?? what kind of internals? What supporting mods? What GT turbo?? Are you running MSnS (running spark control)? Or are you using something else for ignition retard or control. Not to sound like a *complete ass* but 650chp is one hefty order to accomplish. I know it's great to set your goals high and all.. but sometimes realism is your friend. I've seen alot of HIGH horsepower 4cyl and it's definately not an easy thing to accomplish. Realistically I would be supprised if you broke 400+ because well.. you'll break ALOT of shit along the way.

Head was done by Forrester Racing - (from AMS fame) - ported, polished, new valves, springs, etc etc...

bottom end - pistons, rings, rods...etc...

As I said, entire engine built.

Turbo is a hybrid 63 trim.

I will be running the MSnS for ignition

Thats ok no offense, I've heard it before. I realize that it seems like a big job to accomplish this...and it is! I have put 4 years of work and research (and money) into this car and I am positive I'll be pushing the power. I have all my bases covered, engine, air and fuel (although I'm still working on that with the injectors). My targer is 650chp, and from putting the pieces all together, there is no reason I won't reach it (albeit a few broken things along the way).

Luckily I have a great DSM mechanic that has been assisting me along the way. He said the 880cc's will do the job, but when I did research online last night, I found otherwise.

880cc injectors will be enough.

Doug - any truth to the HP rating? I'd rather run at a lower duty and have room to expand in the future w/out having to get new injectors once more.

I've never cared too much for the "HP ratings" put on injectors... I just go by experience. 880cc injectors should be just right for 650chp... but that's about it. If you want room for growth on top of that, then go with the 1000cc... but there's nothing wrong with operating an injector at 90% duty.

I hope you're using AT LEAST a GT35R for this project. I appreciate your enthusiasm, but 600+ HP is not easy. Good luck... I'd like to see/hear more about your setup.

I appreciate it - some guys are all about the ratings, while others say no big deal. From the looks of your setup, it appears you know what you are talking about.

I'm planning to post when the car is complete and on the dyno. I didn't want to post much before on the fourms for all the lame people out there that just flame-post out of disbelief.

I've got several team cars that are making big power (my 420A hasn't even ran yet - but should be any day now). If you have any questions or need any help at all, feel free to e-mail/PM me. Good luck with your project.
