#10042, "$33 o2 simulator to trick ecu and give it downstream o2 readings?"

Hey all, does anyone know if this works:

http://www.groupbuycenter.com/buy.asp?row_id=4161

It's an o2 sensor simulator that takes various inputs and generates a signal to the ECU to trick it into thinking that you have a downstream o2 sensor. It's supposed to be used if you have no cat, or in my case, no downstream o2 sensor. Would it work for? Much cheaper than buying a useless $120 o2 sensor that only checks emissions. This module is supposed to get rid of the check engine light.

Here's some info:
>>>
Unlike, most O2 sims on the web that use a 555 timer, this sim utilizes a RISC processor to exactly simulate the oxygen sensor outputs from the catalytic converter. CEL-free guaranteed! The Sim computes various vehicle sensor parameters in real-time to mimic the oxygen sensor outputs. No more check engine light for test pipe equipped vehicles! We currently have 6 of these in stock by the end of the week, and will order more in a timely fassion if needed.

Ok this is supposed to take input from the upstream o2, lower the voltage, and use it as a signal to give the ecu for your downstream o2 to trick it into thinking you have a cat (or o2 sensor there). Would this work guys?

Nice year and a half old thread. I'm not gonna blast ya though, cause I like to see people using the search feature. emoji

Here's a link to the resistor mod - http://homepage.mac.com/brossow/neon/pic/cat_resistor.html

It'll get rid of that nasty CEL for ya.

That'll only get rid of the CEL if there is an O2 sensor that is alive and well in the catback. If the O2 sensor is dead, thenthe resistor will do nothing.

Yeah, the resistor should work for the 95s.

And Bill is right. My rear o2 cracked in half, so I couldn't get away with just a resistor. I got a o2 simulator from Caspers Electronics - http://www.casperselectronics.com/cgi-local/store/commerce.cgi?product=IMPORTS
