That is some gnarly damage, just wait till you drop that oilpan...you're going to be in for a surpise.

Not to mention you're going to be spending extra $$$ now on a long block rebuild...as well as getting a new oil pump and cleaning all of the metal shavings/particles out of your oil pickup.

I understand that it's your car and you can do what you wish, but you coulda saved some cash and some extra work...oh well though.

I don't know why everyone's bitching. He bought (or was looking at) a complete long block from a neon. Granted, he can't use the head, but if his head's okay, then so what? He felt like blowing it up, so he did, it makes no fuckin difference to the rest of you.

During a rebuild, you would replace the oil pump anyway (or at least I would), and since the whole motor's apart, you might as well do a long block rebuild (why cut corners on a rebuild?).

Get the sticks out of your asses, jeez.

Ya know, I was hoping for a little more carnage. Did anyone save the pics of my motor when I pulled it apart?

I bought the car with a blown motor, dude's sister drove it AFTER it sucked a valve. The valve stem broke off and made its way into the neighboring cylinder. A valve head in one cylinder and a stem in the other, while driving, tears some shit up like you couldn't believe. It demolished 2 pistons (3 & 4) and beat the shit out of the head to the point where you almost could tell there was a spark plug in #3.

**EDIT**
Notice the valve stem indention in #4 (on the right of the spark plug, near the exhaust valve):

There was a corresponding chunk missing from the piston.

Agree with ^^^ Cougar, you of all people should be able to understand the diminishing supply of servicable blocks, when was the last time you saw a decent Cleveland or FE?

Wish you hadn't toasted a block for no reason, would have been easier to accept if it were blown at the track in the middle of a record setting run, but oh well.

Could have been a good block/crank/head to sell off, say $350 in parts as a conservative estimate, would have paid for a set of H-beam rods emoji live and learn.

You think its bad that he blew his motor just because he wanted to... You guys should drop by the annual RMDSM HP competition sometime. It takes place in September at Mac Autosports in Parker, CO. They have an AWD dyno. Theres a guy (Scott Seevers) that has blown his completly built motor, head, and tranny just because he can. Hes done it the last 3 years I've been there. Its quite entertaining... He goes there with a goal. If he doesnt meet that goal he blows it up and goes home and tries again.

I spun a bearing a few days ago, but not nearly as bad as yours. Good luck with the rebuild. If he has the money, then he shouldnt be bashed for doing that.

I think they are bashing him because its something if he didn't want to...someone else could of used. I don't think having lots of money should constitute for ruining perfectly good stuff. I mean give it away if you have money so less fortunate people can use it, thats how I feel about it. If it were to break on accident, thats one thing, but to diliberately do it...well I don't agree with that.

LOL..I know is all opinions, and I hope you get your rebuild done up solid!

Bingo. When i blew my last 2.0, i did it on the dyno and I said "it's going to make 350 wheel or its going to blow up." It blew up. That block is in an Avenger in Corpus Christi right now, i built it for the guy myself, trucked it out there myself, installed it for him myself, and the damn thing ran when I left. it's one thing to toast a motor setting a goal, it's another to destroy something just because you can.

Your right, but he did try to fix the problem before blowing it up. He didnt do a great job by just replacing the bearings, but at least he tried. I agree with you about the less fortunate people, but everyone is different.

Diminishing supply of serviceable blocks?? When was the last casting of a cleveland (which I don't even care for) or an FE? Then, compare that to the amount of options for a 420a.

Granted, his choice to blow up the block isn't something I'd do, but the point is he felt like doing it. It's his block, his car, his choice.

I had a short block that was ready to go to ANYONE who would pick it up for FREE. Had a few people interested, I called, left messages, neither got back to me. I even took it with me Houston for 2 other people, neither of which got back to me, so I threw the fucker in a dumpster.

On any normal occasion, I would not have done that, but sometimes you get to a point and just say 'fuck it'. I'm sure the OP was at that point.

I used Cleveland and FE as examples that I figured you'd understand (and presuming money permits, I have a project that may change your mind about the Cleveland emoji ) At some point in time we're going to look back and say, man it's too bad there aren't as many 420a's floatin around as there used to be, and then we'll remember this post and want to punch him in the nuts (j/k). And by the by, I would have grabbed that block from you if you were close enough, but I'm in CA and you're in TX, and I didn't think you wanted to ship it.

Hey, me and my friend were gonna take that off your hands emoji

I got great joy out of looking at those pictures. Now I know what it looks like when your truly fucked and you HAVE to drive your other car for a few days. God and I thought a few drip sof oil was bad and a boost coupler that wouldn't stay on. MAybe even expired license tabs cause I can't turn off my cel for emissions, but hey, I don't have holes in my engine that aren't supposed to be there!

Awesome! Lets see some more of the oil pan when you pull it off-
Maybe have a mechanic look at it as a joke! You know, see if he can weld it or something lol!

Fully Built MS powered 99' GS Sport, Garrett T3/T04e 60 trim with one big ass intercooler!

Yeah, she runs...sorta!

Of that's just a scratch. Here is some damage for ya.
This was the motor I pulled out of the Talon I just bought from Axa in Vegas.

That rod cap wanted out of there really bad.

Hey Blizare, these rod bolts look familiar? Just kidding. The bolts I sent came out of a tired motor but not a blown motor.

I think the fat that he acknowledged the problem and still drove it without taking it to a shop kinda loses him the suit, unless he got a really good attorney, and that might cost more then the engine. It is odd that they drained the oil though.
