i noticed today that i have a leak coming from the far side of my tranny closest to the driver side wheel well. Its leaking around the plate that seals the end of the tranny. Can this be replaced, and is it hurting anything?

Sure, pretty easy fix. Take off the bolts, then take off the plate, then clean it all up. Then use some black RTV to seal it up. Torque the bolts to 21 ft lbs. You may want to drain the trans fluid beforehand. Its never a bad idea to change it anyway.
