#8231, "pt trans??"

So my transmission decided to go out on me, didn't had 2, 4 or reverse, lol... and i was getting tired of my 2 gear syncro grinding, so I'm deciding to replace it.... Al tho' i wanted to put the NV T350, I saw that i could put the n/t pt cruiser tans also. Just need to know if i need any mods, like if the axles of the 2gnt will fit the pt trans with out a problem?? And if i could use a non modular type clutch of the neon on this set up?

If 2,4 and R were not responsive I am willing to bet it had something to do with the C-Clip that secure the cable.

Or a bent cable, but I'd start with checking for a missing or loose C-clip .

Already check the linkage, from the shifter knob all the way to the trans, no missing clips, or no binds in the cable, al tho' i did had a problem a while back ago with the roll pin in the trans that holds the linkage on to the shift forks. Any ways I'm tired of the syncro, so I'm trying to get the NV-T350 or the pt's trans

You are aware that the 5 spd trans in the Eclipse is a NVT350, right?

Then say that you're looking for a 3.55 trans, not an NVT-350. They're all NVT-350s

Will work fine (I believe its 03+). The shifter arms on top of the tranny MAY be different. I'm honestly not positive. But the worst you would have to do would be to switch out your old arms.

The non mod clutch would also work fine.

The tranny is also a .72 final drive. A little lower rpm's while cruising around.

For the record, fellas, it's NV-T350. New Venture T350 trans.

This is the first time I've ever heard of anyone with a 2GNT having synchro issues. How long was the car run without any transmission oil, I wonder...

I had the pt trans and blew it just like the others. Everything fit fine w/ it. Just go w/ a 3.55 neon trans. I just got one for $120 at the junk yard.

The PT mtx has a 3.94 gear set, with a .72 FD, which is the same gears in the 1G dohc neon. The PT mtx has an HD case and gears, yielding a higher torque rating of 165 lbs. The trans case has additional webbing The 94-99 mtx is said to hold 135lbs.

Early style NVT-350 - 135lbs torque

Later style NVT-350 - 165 lbs torque

The shifter arms are not an obstacle for using the transmission. The longer arms, when shaved down 1 inch, provide a 30% shorter shift.

What part of the arm do you have to shave down?

The longer arm. The 2G r/t mtx uses two short arms. Going to start doing this to all the mtx's I resell.

Not altogether true. Many of the 135lb units in 95 had the extra webbing as well. I have one.
