if i remove my mass airflow sensor will that effect the tranny from shifting in a 98 eclipse gs? the person i got the car removed the mas and now it wont leave first gear... do i have to replace the tranny?

then what would cause the tranny to stay in first gear when it gets up to temp. sorry for the wrong post... im very new to this whole thing

Clarify: Auto or manual? I threw this in the MTX section, but really didn't ask.

Nothing other than a broken transmission will make an MTX lock in gear. ATX trans, electronic issues will force it to stay in second. Input speed sensor failure, output speed sensor, or TCU failure will do it.
