Hey guys I am having a big problem right now. As some of you may know the midwest has been freezing cold lately. Today in Wisconsin it didn't get above 8*. My problem started today when I went to start my car and it didn't go into gear unless I pumped the pedal. The pedal didn't have any pressure initially until it was probably 75% pushed in, as I pumped it, it would get pressure a little sooner. It also won't shift into any gear while moving unless I double clutch it. So I figured I must be leaking fluid somewhere, so I checked the master by the pedal...nothing. So I checked the reservoir, completely full? So at this point I am completely confused and frustrated. The clutch is grabbing fine and not slipping at all so I know that it isn't out yet. The only idea that I have is to bleed the clutch? If anybody has any ideas please shoot them at me, even though it is freezing out side I will try anything to get this fixed. bleed it. you might have moisture in the fluid and as you know that shit freezes. Mine has been ok and I am only 3 hours south of you.

Got -20* weather up here in Canada, and I had the exact same problem. Sometimes even double-clutching wasn't enough. I bled the clutch a few weeks ago and it has been fine since (actually, releasing much better than it did after the new tranny/clutch were first installed a few months ago).

Worth the 5 min of your time (and whoever you recruit to pump the pedal for you).

Im having the same issue and i just had my clutch replaced a couple months back... my car had been sitting for a couple weeks and i went to drive it and got stuck.

Is there a certain clutch fluid that would be better in these bone cold ass states?

Also, what do you guys recommend for one of those power bleeders or whatever they are for the clutch line?

Edit: I meant speed bleeder, not power bleeder.

Status: Finally up and running!

Well, I bled the clutch a while ago and it fixed the problem for that day. The next day was a little worse and the day after right back to the same problem. I have now bled the clutch about 6 different times. When I loosen the bleeder screw it seems to get really loose like maybe air is getting it around it or something? I don't know, I am frustrated so I am just ordering a new slave cylinder to see if that will help. I will keep this updated.

Please do. I can feel now that my clutch has less and less pressure... mostly when it's cold it seems to act up. Sometimes doesn't engage at the top of the release as it should, but near the middle or bottom. If the slave helps, I may order one for mine as well.

Im having problems with my clutch too, but during my search someone had mentioned a speed bleeder from pepboys that worked. It was a 10mmx1.0. My bleeder valve seems to be ok, but maybe that will help you guys out?

They are $10 at my pepboys.
