Ok, so my throw-out bearing in the clutch finally went. Sent it to the shop, he ripped it all apart and the clutch was toast. The tranny was a mess as well and would need to be rebuilt, but those guys don't do rebuilds. I found another tranny from a 97 NT Eclipse, and brought it in. The guy installed the tranny and I picked up a Bully Stage 1 clutch for it. Well, I can drive again, but ever since I got the car back, things have been weird.
Any time I hit the clutch or throw the car into neutral while coasting, it revs up to 1500RPM. It has never done this before. If I come to a complete stop, it will go back down to idle (about 800RPM). Like, if I coast to a stop in 2nd gear, the car will rev down to about 1000RPM, but as soon as I hit the clutch and put the car in neutral, it revs itself up until I 100% stop all motion. This stops if I put it in first and begin to engage the clutch. This is rather annoying, I've had a cop pull me over thinking I was trying to initiate a street race by revving the engine. Any leads would be great. I'm totally lost here.

So it's normal then? I just wasn't sure since it never did anything like that before. As of now, when it's cold outside this won't happen. I was taking off the carbon fiber hood though last night and noticed that there is oil leaking at the back driver-side corner of the motor (good ol' head gasket leak, maybe?). Any chance this is related?
I'm not really bothered by it so much anymore, but the thing is that while it revs as described, if I'm going down a hill in say 3rd gear, the tranny doesn't govern my speed like it should, it just lets me keep gaining speed/revving itself. And this isn't a sharp inclne or anything, fairly smooth, but the engine will rev up to 3000 in third, where before it would keep itself around the 2000 mark. Again, when it's cold out, the car behaves normally, which is the only reason I think something is wrong/weird.

the revving is normal, you're just hyper sensative to everything since something was changed. as for the oil leak, check the valve cover gasket first, it's pretty normal for them to let go after a few years.
Edit: I just re-read your post, possible bad speed sensor on the new trans? maybe check the IAC too

Alright I will look at them. I replaced the valve cover gasket in March, and it is definitely leaking again (bit of oil at the front)... did I just to a bad job of it, or get a bad gasket? I'll do that one over again (last time was my first time doing it) and see what happens.
I will also check IAC... what sensor on the tranny should I be looking at (not sure what's all in there aside from speed sensor)? I might try yanking some off the old tranny, the shop should still have it.

I think Dino is correct. My car does the exact same thing and I asked about this maybe two weeks ago. So I quit caring about it. I just turn the A/C off and the problem mostly goes away.

trans sensors should be just the speed sensor and reverse switch, on used ones they're usually screwed up somehow.

Alright, I'll check it out. Noticed last night that my reverse lights aren't working either (don't know how long that's been the case, but I suspect only in the last couple days... and I just put a brand new switch in the old tranny, too). My speedo does read wrong (it's a mph gauge, and when I'm going roughly 80km/h, it'll read about 100-110mph), so I'll get that sensor regardless, and hope something good happens.
