?Ok so im driving to church today, driving in 3rd gear only doing about 40mph. Then i hear this big clunk under my car and my car stops going forward. So i pulled to the side and i couldnt get it to go in any gear at all. Feels fine when i actually try to shift it but it doesnt seem to catch at all, like it in neutral still. I think it might be a shift linkage problem or sumthin, not real sure. Any help would be appriacated . Thanks

I'm assuming this is a manual? You are not really clear on that. Is there any oil underneath the car? Will it go into gear without the engine running? Put it in 1st, crank the car and see if the car moves.

Yea its a stick, no oil or anything under the car or leaking anywhere. It shifts fine, shifted with a friend looking under the hood and the cables seemed fine. But when I turn the car on it makes thing clunking sound near the tranny. Possibly that the release fork came off or broke? But when its on and I put in gear it does nothing. emoji

I have a bad boot on the driver side and its been clicking and such for about 3 months now. Would having a bad boot for a while mess up the axle and that would cause this problem possibly?

If it has been clicking for about 3 months you probably broke the CV axle. I would check that.

I'm sure it would if it is indeed broken. I would go buy a replacement from AutoZone for about $100 (with your core). I believe those have a lifetime replacement warranty.

ok today my mechanic said it might be the tranny because of the test he told me to do. what he had me do was i jacked the car up on the front driver side off the ground and start the car and go into first. the results were that while the wheel was in the air it would seem to catch something like a gear or sumthing then stop turning for a quick minute then catch something again and so on. anyone have any ideas?
