Ok so when it's really cold outside and I start my car, something is grinding a little. Seems only to do it in Extreme Cold during the mornings while my car is warming up. But it does do it however while the car is warm and its warm outside. Just not as bad. When I press in my clutch pedal, the noise goes completely away. What could it be? I head if it was the TOB then it would still do it while the clutch is pressed in. I did a search on here before posting but no luck. Thanks a lot!

It's normal for these trannys, wont hurt a thing. I've read that it was the clip missing on the throwout bearing but never looked into it too far. Just learn to live with it as it is very common. Only other thing it could be is the tranny main shaft bearing, but much less likely.

hmm...I have the same problem. Nasty noise, goes away when clutch is depressed. One minor difference though....my car doesn't move now, and I'm w/o a car until I get a tranny.

K. Today I started her up and it didnt make the noise at all. However it was a very warm day. I guess its just these trannys make TOB noise when really cold?

Yes, its the TOB. It has nothing to do with the clip for it. Even when I installed my new clutch, and new TOB, the noise was still present. The screeching sound seems to be something that we will have to live with in these cars. I have had NO driveablility issues due to the noise.
Good thing it goes away when it warms up, or the weather is warmer.

what exactly does this screeching you're referring to sound like...I have this really loud noise too. I can start the car, it will idle good until I let go of the clutch. The noise is so damn loud, baby jesus started crying last time I started my car for sure. The car will die shortly after letting off the clutch, and if I let go slowly, the damn thing will start moving forward....in neutral!!!
