Last week or so I began to notice this horrible noise from the engine bay. Unlike most of the searching has come up with...it's unlike the tob issue where you get noise from depressing the clutch, my noise fades away slowly if you hold the clutch in. The noise is some kind of clanking/rattling etc or what not that doesn't sound good at all. I was driving home from work after hearing this noise and diagnosing it's symptoms for the first time...and outta nowhere, I began getting 5th gear pop-out. My buddy had this issue randomly awhile back in his sentra se-r, but my case was much worse. I had to drive home in 4th gear on the highway because it would not stay in fifth at all really. Every now and then it would stay for 30 seconds or maybe a minute, then other times it popped back out almost immediately after releasing the clutch. Well I drove the car maybe two more times after that considering it's been -50 outside and my baby is garage kept at all times when possible....a couple of days ago I decided I was just gonna pull out of the garage and take a 2 minute drive over to the gym on base....well, that didn't happen. After struggling to even the get the car in gear, it began to stall and even die when attempting to move in reverse out of the garage. I could put it in another gear and slowly release the clutch and the car would move forward, but couldn't really test too much since it's in the garage. Could all these problems just be clutch related, or are there possibly deeper issues at hand. I was planning on changing the clutch eventually before summer, but this is a little ahead of schedule as usual. I've been doing a lot of research on the known issues with the SPEC Stage 3's, and was thinking that the 360ft/lbs rating of the Stage 2 should be enough even for a 2gnt with turbo and decent boost. Sorry for the severity and lenghth of the post...I'm just wanting to get my baby back on the road since I just got it running great earlier this month from my engine rebuild and 5 months of downtime.

Bet its the transaxle, and its internal. Lots of things can make gears pop out, and usually its related to garbage in the trans from some other part failing.

boo...totally not what I wanted to hear
I love how my registration and emissions both expire this month...I finally got my car running great, then before getting them taken care of...first the o2 sensor dies, can't pass IM like that. Replace it, then get a cel for my egr, followed up by not even getting my car to move anymore hahaha.
