Actually I have a few quick questions. My 2nd gear grinds now. Sucks I know. If I changed my fluids and added Synchromesh and/or something like Lucas Oil would this help the grind even in the least bit? Or is this a waste of time/money?
Also, now that my 2nd gear does grind now, how long do I have before it starts really affecting my transmission? I can only imagine the damage it is doing and the metal particles that are floating around.

Change the Fluid and it make make it last another 30K. Let it sit and get worse and your gonna be stranded on the road somewhere....
Or you ould just get a new tranny

That all depends Brian. If your trans was rebuilt prior and the company used all brass synchros then you could use synchromesh. Unless you know this for a fact, assume you have the stock synchros.
With the stock synchros, if you use a fluid other than factory, the synchro lining will deteriorate. I just pulled apart a trans a month ago when the lining was completely gone, you could smell the gear lube all over the inside of the trans.
There is nothing you can do to just make the problem go away.
Here are your options:
1. Buy a good used trans
2. Send me your trans and i will swap in a good 2nd gear synchro.
3. If you are familier with rebuilding gearboxes then i can also sell you the synchro and you can replace it.

I don't know what syncromesh is but I have been using BG Syncroshift ever since I got my car like 6 years now and the tranny has been shifting great. I noticed it shifted better after I changed it out also. I put it in my 280Z tranny and it reduced the grinding also. ultimately you'll have to replace the syncro though.

Ya I know the synchro is going but I was hoping for something that might help while I decide what to do. I am leaning on just replacing the transmission. How hard is it to drop a tranny in one of this Eclipses? I have never done a FWD before.
