hey, i will be going to the ol' u-pick-u-pull yard and getting a trans from a wrecked talon. Can anyone remember what tools you had to use to get 'er done. The suspension is all removed, airbox, and shifter cables. The only thing really holding the trans together are the axles, crossmember, roll bars, motor mounts, and engine/transmission bolts. Are all the bolts metric size, or do they vary? and will one pry bar do? Man im really praying that the trans is still there. These are hard to come by and last week was the last time i checked to see if it was still there. Im thinking that everything should only take about 1-2 hours, if i bring all the right tools. im bringing a mechanic i work with so things should go smoothly.

Bolt size list:

Bolts holding trans to motor: 18mm
Bolts holding brackets for mounts to trans (front and rear): 14mm
Nuts on drivers side mount to trans 17mm
bolts in slave cylinder: 10mm
Bolt on slave cyl hardline 12mm
Bolts in starter: 15mm
Bolts in little braces on bottom of trans and motor: 18mm, one is 15mm in front

Before you star find something to put under the motor to support it when the trans is removed. Bring a prybar to pop the axles out. All the sizes about bring wrenchs as well as sockets. there is one 18mm trans bolt that is located in the rear of the motor that can be a pain. For a junkyard i would bring 30" of extensions and a breakerbar. you can access it through the passenger wheel well so yuo are not underneith the car. I remove the bolt first to make sure you are going to be able to. should only take you 1hr or 2hr to get it out if the car is up in the air supported on rims. The junkyard by us welds steel rims together and puts them under the chassis so the crs are accessable.
