I had a Spec Stage 1 clutch/flywheel installed and ever since the install my car has been vibrating at idle. If I rev to exactly 1000rpm, the vibrating gets roughest. It seems to smoothen out at 1200-1300rpm. I don't notice it while driving.

My mechanic rechecked all the bolts and said there's only 1 way to align the clutch so it can't be off. New clutch has 700 miles on it.

I called up Spec and they said to return it. I don't want to get the clutch back and have the same problem. Is there any last resorts to fixing this problem before sending it back?

sounds like an off balanced clutch. send it back.

check all mounts for wear and tears, check input shaft for ny signs of being bent. put clutch on a balencing machine to check it and see if its out of balence. Thats all i can think of off the top of my head.

Would a turbo clutch or flywheel fit in a non-turbo eclipse? My mechanic said that Spec may have sent me a clutch/flywheel made for a turbo model. Sounds like an excuse not to take out my clutch.

Is it true that non-turbo clutches/trannys come unbalanced from the factory? He said he called Mitsu and they said only the turbo models come balanced so that's why my car vibrates.

Just want to make sure vibration isn't normal for an aftermarket clutch kit.

vibration isne normal...your mechanic is an idiot! turbo clutch wont fit and is totally diferent design from our modular unit.

Well you have a couple options. Take it to another mechanic for a second opinion or verify the mounts are good yourself and he didnt damage them, Drop the trans and take the clucth to a machine shop and see if they can check the balence on it.

Will it mess anything up if its not balance right? I got a clutch from south bend and there is vibration at idle and goes away when my rpms go above 2000. I was told that the virbration wont hurt anything is this true.

I believe so, but it shouldn't be there. I'd send the clutch back to South Bend. I heard they cover the cost of shipping both ways, unlike Spec who makes you pay to ship a problem that was THEIR mistake.

You're right. My bearing was all warped inside. There was a noticeable gap when looking straight through it. Is it possible that the bearing caused the car to vibrate? Or the vibration caused the bearing to warp.

Sent it all back to Spec. Anyone else have a prob with a Spec bearing?
