before you go and say "use the search BANME!"...i have...i understand the two setups, but the modular is confusing me a little.... modular is the disk riveted inside the two plates..(not good with the names of stuff)... but what i dont know, is the flex plate? what is it... i know in my car, i just have the big hunk of a clutch, i slide it onto the tranny, and bolt it up to the flywheel?? why does everyone say that it is riveted to the flywheel?? in a non-modular setup, its about half of the modular setup right? meaning the disk is between the flywheel and the outer plate?? am i missing something? if i bought a modular clutch, why would i need to by a flex plate...wouldnt it just bolt up to my flwheel and be done

what year is your car, that might help.

I belive what you are talking about is the flex plate that looks like its is a giant gear of some sort. This is issued for starting the car. your enteir mod clutch assembly bolts up to this using like 7-8 bolts.

Not sure what you are asking here.

see, i always knew of the giant gear as the flywheel.... not a flexplate.... and mine has 4 bolts holding the clutch to the flexplate.... there's 7 bolts holding the flexplate to my crankshaft.... thats why im confused.... mine is a modular..at least i think... when i take out the four bolts, the clutch comes out as a whole unit, clutch disk is hidden inside...modular right?...anyways, where are those 7 bolts youre talking about? ive changed engines in two 96 talons, and mine 95...and they were all this way...i guess i was just confused on the different names people had for different parts...just wanted to get everything straightend up.... if i buy a modular clutch for a 95-99 eclipse, it should just bolt up right? thanks
