okay tranny gods, is my clutch is going tits up...?
installed new S/S braided clutch line with all new fluid thats nice and clean, bled system and went for a drive! thought all was good and fixed... nope.
Went to car wash and schucks auto parts store without any problems. came out of schucks and started car and it wouldn't go any gear at all.
turned car off and then it went into gear with and without using clutch. i put it in reverse and started the car. and with the cluth in, it moved backwards. took it out of reverse to put it in first...no go. turned car off, went into 1st gear fine. so i started the car with it in 1st gear and it pulled forward... again with the clutch IN.
i then took it out of 1st and turned it off. i Put it back in 1st with the engine off and started the car with clutch IN...this time with no forward movement, i pulled out of the parking lot and it was shifting fine all the way home!
clutch or tranny?

Bet it's hydralics. Dying master or slave. Check for leaks at both, check the fluid level, top it off and bleed it again, see what happens.
In the event that it is the clutch, it will be a consistant, permanent failure.

damn...sorry that SS line didn't help. I know that our cars have issues with the stock rubber clutch line, I'm not the only person that has had that go bad on him - so at least you are protected against that in the future. And it was only $20 bucks or so.

That's your problem. I went through THREE Spec Stage 3 clutches in a 3 month period. You see, Spec doesn't put a lot of R&D into each specific clutch applicaion and the pressure plate for the 420A does not last long. The diaphragm springs they use wear out very quickly and will get to the point that they cannot pull the pressure plate away from the clutch disc thus not fully disengaging the engine and transmission. This is why you can't get your car into gear. I've talked to Spec and they refuse to change their design. They say they cannot afford to redesign or fix their pressure plate design used on the 420A clutches.
Seriously, get a Clutch Masters stage 4 modular clutch. Doug

Also, for you guys that installed a stainless-steel braided clutch hose- what size thread is on the clutch master and slave cylinders? I'll be purchasing a lot of AN fittings and hsoes this week and don't feel like removing the existing fittings to find out. Did you use -3AN or -4AN line?
