OMG, what the hell is going on with this tranny? Digest version: driving along shifting fine. Come to light, no go into gear.. any gear at all. clutch still feels the same. pull over and still wont go into gear at all. shifter moves fine, but just not all the way. stops before it engages gear, like something is blocking it from moving all the way forward. go back later in day to move it forward so not to get a ticket and it goes into gear just fine. Couldnt drive it cause i was late for school. Go back later in the afternoon, won't go back into gear at all. i tow it home with engine running (for power steering), let it sit for 1 1/2 days with nothing done to it at all, come out to trouble shoot the problem, now it goes into gear just fine. drive it around the block 2-3 times... now problems. Park it for the last month or so and go out today to clear the snow off and run it for a few and now it wont go back into gear again at all. when i try to put it in gear (clutch in or out doesn;t matter) the car will move forward about 1-2 inches and hold there untill i let go of the shifter.
What in the hell is going on with my tranny?

no, it still feels the same. there isn't a change in the pedal consistancy, not big enough for me to tell anyway...

might be a dumb question, but why/how would the clutch stop the gears form being able to engage using the shift lever?

If the clutch is not disengaging the gears cannot mesh and therefore dont want to shift. In Johns clutch we found a couple small pieces of metal were missing from the disk hub (they literally cracked and ripped away from the springs). My guess is those pieces are now behind the pressure plate, not allowing it to collapse when the spring tension is removed. Thats just a theory...we never found the pieces.
Tim i would say its time to drop that trans and take a look at the clutch. Hell it off season maybe throw a stocker in there till spring and see how it does.

well, now... with it not running, and with nothing done since i posted this initialy, it goes into gear today. i will start it and see if it stills goes into gear or if it stops again...
