#3818, "Changing Clutch.... as Engine Rebuild take place!"

Sup guys.

I am going to take everything off the engine (turbo, engine, etc) for a engine rebuilt to Howell Long Rod Kit.

At the same time, I think I should change my clutch as well, since my car has around 95K miles on it. should I change my clutch?

If I should change my clutch, what clutch should I change it to?
I saw some SPEC Stages clutch in HOWELL.

And I read post saying SPEC or ACT are good.
But how do I konw which Stage is for me?

after rebuild, I will plan to run 14-15PSI of boost.
and I want to make around 360HP for this rebuild.
Will Stage 1 be enough? Stage 2? 3?

What is inconvience in Stage 2 or 3? I read also that the higher the stage the harder it is for driving (shifting gear) for daily driving.
Coz I will use my car as daily driving (my only car)
and so I want to it handle the power and also the drivability!

Thanks guys!
Gil

P.S. Can you guys also state where you guys got your clutch and how much and for how long? Thanks!

I also did some more reading and research.

For my 1995 eclipse (with ODB-II) and I believe it has a drive plate/flexplate.

So my clutch setup is a modular-clutch setup.

Should I go for SPEC? clutchmaster? ACT?

I went to google, and those CM clutch is over $700 for Stage II.
(I assume I need Stage II correct?)

can someone keep me some direction pointing here!

Thanks guys.
Gil

best bang for buck will be stage 3 spec. stage 2 or 1 will end up slipping.

The issue with higher stages and driveability is the amount the clutch will slip during engagement and whether the disk has a sprung hub.

Now grain (john) has the stage5 and the only roughness is starting off in first gear otherwise it feels fine to him driving. I have a stage 3 zume clutch and it chatters and grabs a lot during engagement but after the first few mins you get used to it and dont notice it.

So Stage II will slip too?
But I never slip on my OEM stock clutch up to now thou?
(with stage II turbo setup with stock engine block)

Can I have more inputs!
