#3749, "question about the MC, slave and clutch line" Dec-14-04 11:24 AM by EazyE
ok i searched and didnt find the answer i was looking for. heres the deal my Master clutch has been leaking brake fluid by the rubber boot where the pedal connects, also it doesnt want to engage mainly first and second gear. Im rebuilding the master clutch and slave cylinder to see if it will take care of the problem. I also just ordered a stainless steel clutch line from RRE, since its only $20 bucks and rubber hoses suck, i just want to make sure its good to use on a stock clutch. so if you have had any of the above problems, let me know what i can do to fix it. heres some info on my car in case you need it, i have 55,592 miles to date, the clutch is stock, and its not abused but rarely. hope this helps and again i searched but couldnt find the answers i needed. thanks in advance.

If your clutch master cylinder is leaking fluid inside down the firewall, then check your fluid level. Is it low? a leaking master may cause the clutch not to fully disengage making it difficult to shift. The RRE stainless line is great for any clutch. I have it installed on my stock clutch. I have rebuilt my clutch master cylinder in the past month as it was leaking as well. I am not sure if the slave is rebuildable, maybe only replaceable.

well at autozone on their website they had a rebuild kit, ill double check though, im sure its not as expensive as the master clutch. the fluid as leaking on the inside, its hard to tell if its leaking on the engine firewall since my cars black. yeah the fluid ive been refilling it once a week, about half way through the week it drops down to alittle above midway. after i get done ill post a update to see if it fixes it.

are you dislexic...its CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER not master clutch. if its leaking by the firewall the the rebuild kit will have the new seals to replace. Dont get hit in the head by the spring? in otherwords despress the piston before you remove the retaining clip.
