#3465, "First person to get the new DXD-F clutch"

This is awesome. I called Andy Pifer at southbendclutch in Indiana and spoke to him for quite a bit. Now I heard about him from another member who is using his DXD series clutch. He then mentioned about a new clutch he's going to introduce in a few weeks. It's the F series of his top of the line DXD clutches. He first made a custom one for a Nascar car a couple of weeks ago. They loved it so much, that they wanted him to build them more. The DXD-F is catered to hold at least 400hp and take the beating of a lifetime. Best of all it's a bolted, not riveted, modular set up. What does that mean for us boosters? Ease of tranny install and if it does wear out, just take off the bolt and replace the disk. I'm stoked because I'm the 1st guy on the block (you can say I'm testing it) to get this new clutch, he only charged me 490 and that's with overnight delivery. This is a step over DXD, but the same price. Because I was at work and so excited about this, I forgot how the actual composition and set up was. If you guys reall want to know I'll call him back or I can give you his number. Clutch will be here Friday and I'll let you all know how it turns out.

400 HP really isn't that strong of a clutch really when you think about it..I guess it just depends on your personal power goals for the car. The CM 4 is rated for 500 HP, but of course, its way more expensive too. I'm patiently waiting for the cluthes from ACT to be released, but who knows when that will happen..I need a GOOD clutch baaadddd..

I wished I had a digicam when the clutch came in friday. The cluch was design for more torque than horsepower. Best part is, it's a bolted modular setup. Something goes wrong, unbolt and just change the disk.

I ran into a slight problem, that I need to make southbend aware of. It's not a big deal, but just a minor detail that could fuck someone's world up. It's in one of my post down there. But I'll let you know by wednsday night.

The problem I suspect, is fixed! Clutch engages like a smack to the head. So much better than CMS4, but let's see how long it'll last.

I explained the problem in a couple of posts below, but if you're talking about performance then I shall resume. Clutch pedal, just like stock. Not soft like the CM4. When the clutch is about 2 inches off the floor, you have to start giving it gas or it'll stall. But not as agressive as the CM4 when it comes to that. As soon as you give it gas and fully release the clutch, it grabs and it grabs hard. I love it. So far I defintely love it more than the CM4. 300 dollars less, you can't get a better deal on an awesome clutch. I called the guy and told him what my hp are, what I want out of the clutch yadda, yadda, yadda and he custom builds one for me.

I'll just rephrase what I said. You're able to put more load on this clutch. I got off the phone with Andy earlier to give him an update and this time, I remember what he said. This is a Fyramic material on flywheel and pressure plate side. It's performance way exceeds cyramic and reliability way exceeds carbon. It's a six puck design that sits in between a sachs flywheel and pp. The pp is torqed down 55% over stock along with the disk giving it a total power of over 70% over stock. This clutch grabs when you want it to, and if you decided to take it easy and ride it, it can also accomadate you. Also available from him is aluminum flywheel. He will build for you whatever you want. Let me know if any of you need to get in touch with him.

I paid 490 which is the same price as his "step lower" model. He gave me that deal because I was the first to have it. It's retail is 600. Call Andy Pifer up at southbend clutch and tell him V from Connecticut sent you. He'll give you a good deal.
