#2705, "Question about my tranny/clutch/synchro..."

I did a search on this and from that info I gathered that my synchro is probably out...but wanted to post and make sure..for about the last month, my car has been popping out of 4th everytime I am driving in it for about 30 seconds or more...so I have to hold it down in 4th if i plan on keeping in that gear for a few...just last week, something completely f*cked up in it and now, it doesnt have reverse at all and only 1st, 3rd and 5th seem to go into gear properly...when i try to get it into 2nd or 4th it eith wont go into the gear or if i actually get it into gear, i have to hold it down in gear for it to stay there. it WILL drive fine in 1st, 3rd and 5th and stays in gear fine and when i can actaully get it into 2nd or 4th, and i am holding it into gear, it drives fine...BUT there is no reverse at all whatsoever...ITS GONE! and i keep forgetting so i have to keep pushing myself out of parking spots...(me=DUMBASS)...anyway...thought i would get just a little more advice...i kinda ruled out the tranny being gone since it does actually drive and once it is into gear does fine and the clutch isnt giving me any prob in 1st, 3rd and 5th so i kinda ruled that out...but have any of you ever adjusted or change this out...how hard is it and about how much does it run...am i better off taking it someone or is it pretty simple...any advice is appriciated...TIA

Check the bushings on the cables, and the retaining clips where the cables meet the trans bracket. Losing all "back" gears (2nd, 4th, reverse) is almost always a linkage problem.

Long time no see kiddo.

Chck the bushing on the shifter side of the linkage too, but the engine bay ones see more abuse.
