#2685, "KDS Performance_Manual Transmission_Master Rebuild Kit"

The KDS Performance Manual Transmission Master Rebuild Kit
Advertised as the cheapest Master Rebuild on the market.

This is totally true. I spent 2 weeks searching, looking, and researching kits online. I decided on a KDS, for the bargain price of $295 ($304 shipped).

Here is what they advertise:
http://store1.yimg.com/I/kdsperformance_1762_5953218 (the only picture offered on the site)
Most master kits include the following where applicable: Tapered Roller Bearings, Cylindrical Roller Bearings, Ball Bearings, Needle Roller Bearings, Seals and O-Rings, Oil Rings and Oil Baffles, Small Parts Kits, Fork Pads, Gasket Sets, Synchronizer Blocking Rings.

Here is what comes in the NV-T350 kit:

Now, the kit in itself is not bad. Just be advised that KDS kinda misleads you in what all comes in the kit. They say MOST kits come with all the parts listed above..IF applicable. Well don't fool yourself into thinking just because your car has some of the parts listed, that those parts are included...they are not. What is pictured above is what you get, and that's it. Just be aware that when you select the kit you want there is no detailed description of what is in each kit.

KDS was easy to deal with upon ordering the kit, but now that I need to get a refund I can't get anything but a recording (I've left 2 messages so far). So we'll see how long this takes.

I called Transtar (the kit manu) and inquired as to why there were no Needle Roller Bearings in my kit...seemed "applicable" to me (since I needed them and the car requires them) but they informed me that it was a low quanity order item and so they could not order them in bulk...which = dealer item only.

Mitsu dealer wants $14.44 for this particular Bearing (there are 3 identical ones in your transmission). If you need this bearing let me know, I can get them locally for less then $4 a piece. I bought all 3 bearings for what 1 would have cost me at the dealer. They are OEM manu'd Needle Roller Bearings by Timkin, not knock off's or aftermarket.

Well, I called all day long and they never pick up the phone (and the lady on the machine sounds like she has an attitude problem) so I left 3 messages, with no return call. I sent and e-mail (a nice one) telling them the kit wasn't what I needed, I needed to buy other parts, gave them a deadline that I needed my car by, and told them I needed someone to contact me ASAP. Surprisingly enough...they did. Called me at 10am (when they open)the day after I sent the email.

I'm shippingit back UPS to them today, we'll see how long it takes for them to refund the monies now.

Well. They've had their kit back since 4/30/04. NO refund in my account yet. I've called no answer. I've left 3 emails explaining how important it is for them to put my $$ back, since I need to purchase more parts (bearing, oil, the forks, and some seals) ..no answer.

This is really not encouraging me to buy from them again, should I ever need to.

Well finally on 5/10/04 they put my money back in my account. YAY!

They sure took their sweet time about it though, never called me back after I left messages, and never returned an e-mail after I e-mailed them.

Very poor customer service IMO. emoji

Glad you got your money back.

Did you wind up getting everything you needed to rebuild the trans elsewhere?

Well, we called the manufacturer of the rebuild kit and spoke with a guy who told us what to look for, as far as IF I needed the kit. The syncro's were so sharp they'd almost cut your finger, which is why I sent the kit back.

Turns out I needed shifting forks (boots were melted off) and replaced 3 needle bearings (one was completely destroyed). I got the needle bearings (Timkin brand) from a local place here in town and I bought the forks from Thura. Got them all in...

and something is still wrong, so Dad is gonna take it back to work with him sometime next week and press it back apart while I'm on vacation...and we're gonna go through it again to see why it's still letting 3rd and 5th pop out of gear. (actually it's not slipping out of gear it's pushing them out of gear....you put your hand on the shifter and you can feel it push/pop against your hand while you're holding it in gear..it was doing this before, after the clutch install.)

Welp lol, back to the drawing board...I might have sent that kit back too soon. emoji I hope not cas I sure don't wanna deal with those slow pokes again.

mine is similar. i have no 5th gear whatsoever, and it happend ONE time in 3rd when i was going up a hill in low rpms. Your dog teeth may have gone bad in your car. thats what i was told was wrong with mine.

Having Problems? Heres my Three step solution to anything 2gnt related.
Step 1: Put down everything in your hands.
Step 2: Grab a lucky strike, Smoke it.
Step 3: Walk to the fridge, double fist some keystone ice, sit down in the shade, drink one beer, finish cigarette, drink other beer, roll a joint, smoke it, walk back to your problem, and in about 5 minutes the solution will come to you.
If not. Go here: here

If still nothing, your trying to hard. Start over at step 1.
