So here it is..

Driving in cali was great. I have a leak in my clutch line wich was a pain, but it wasn't all that bad.

So as I am driving home, 5th gear pops out. I put it in, its running fine. Pops out again. Continues to pop out untill it will no longer stay in gear. Now 3rd is starting to pop out, but it stays most of the time (im not using it anymore as of now).

So WTF is the problem? I looked and the bushing apears to be fine. The rubber linkage cover that connects to the bushing is torn. All other gears are fine.

Im a tranny noob so through it at me.

Check the bushings at the trans shift select levers, and under the console.

If all looks well, train your trans fluid, look for lots of brass particles, metallic powdery looking fluid. Make sure it actually had fluid in it.

If there is nothing wrong with the linkage (nothing in it, under it, binding it up) then i have a good 3rd speed gear and two good blocker rings (one for 5th) i'll sell you for cheap.

So I was speaking with dino a little more on this and wanted to make sure that it was documented just in case someone else has this issue.

It sounds to be a linkage problem.

"It is going into gear fine, it would even hold it and then spit it out. Speed, load, clutch pressure nothing would affect it spitting out. Now it wont even hold, just spits it out."

"3rd and fifth are both forward on the stick. You're pulling back on the cable, which pulls back on the lever.
If there is something in the linkage, it won't be able to pull back far enough to fully engage the dog teeth."

Ok, So I havn't been able to drain the fluid because i dont get payed till tom. And that shit is $$. So I plan on doing it this weekend.


BUT GRRR WTF! Last night coming home from the gym I put her in 5th and it stayed. Then this morning I put it in and It kicked out after about 5 min. Load/speed/RPM nothing affects it. I checked my bushings and there all tight as hell. I have up and down play (about 2 inches) and no side to side, in the shifter.. The Shift select fork will move up and down accessively could this be the problem? The other fork next to it, has no up and down movement.

ANYTHING anyone wants to add?!?

So there is a shift select levar bushing?!? Yes the pin is connected. Yes the bushing that connects to the select lever is fine. BUT is there a bushing for the select levar itself?
