here it is from an article in hot rod online

This story may also be of interest to those without an SRT-4, as the 2.4L was introduced in '94 in the Stratus, Cirrus, and the minivans, and it still appears in those applications. The base 2.4L is also current in the PT Cruiser, and it's called Power Tech in the new Jeep Wrangler SE and Liberty. The Jeep applications mean that rear-drive bellhousings (here is the important part)>>>>>>>>are available for the 2.4, and it's rumored that the Dodge Razor concept car may see production as a turbo-2.4L-powered, rear-drive two-seater.<<<<<<<< The 2.4 is also similar to the SOHC and DOHC 2.0L engines used in various Neons, Breezes, Stratuses, Avengers, and Sebrings since '93, but the 2.0L block has a lower deck height (8.35 versus 9.38 inches), does not have balance shafts, and may have other interchangeability issues we can't vouch for

So Bellhousings from jeep aplications in dsm = rear wheel drive eclipse kk...of course not easy but then again when is anny drivetrain swap like this easy

The hard part about making a 420A rwd isn't the transmission. There are ways to make transmissions work by using adapter plates and customized parts etc. The hard part is going to be mounting the engine/tranny, and making room for the tranny. I'm all for a rwd DSM, I think it would kick ass. Where are you going to mount the engine? How are you going to route the exhaust? What are you going to do with the steering rack that will most likely be right in the way of the tranny? What about the front crossmember that is a major part of the car structurally? Also, the throttle body would be pointed at the firewall. That would make for an interestingly routed intake. I know it can be done, and If it were a little easier, I'd seriously think about doing it for mine. If I could find a cheap 2gnt somewhere with a busted tranny or something along those lines, I'd go for it.

Lets just say this... I'm over 100whp and soon to cross 200whp. Thanx 2GNT! Now if I could only learn to prove it.

This isn't exactly a new idea. We've known about this for years now. But like Dave here says, the hard part isn't the trans. I've been thinking about doing this for quite a while.

It's all a matter of how much you want to spend. It's been done before. There's an Avenger or two that's been converter.

The actual Razor used the Mercedes' currect SLK 6 speed tranny with an adapter plate between the A(what ever the fuck the 2.4L turbo engine code is) and the tranny. I 1st saw it on an RX-7 tranny attached to a Ford block. It's an old technique and is nothing new but like the others said it is not a matter of creating the rear wheel drive but making it feasible. It's on my dream list but far before that is AWD. The problem is after you car is converted what are you going to do to balance it. It could turn out to be a psycho tuning job. Proper weighting/chassis balance/sway bars are 3 completely diferent variables to juggle all at once. It can be done but between managing chassis balance and sway bar choice (may have to go custom) could be a 6 month process on it's own not to mention ensuring high speed turns. So my thinking is that if I change the drive configuration then just go AWD and save time tuning, increase potential and spin 4 wheels instead of a different pair. What I think would be a good idea would be to drop a turbo 2.4 Frank onto a GSX. I'm not sure though on which side the housing attaches to the block, anyway it's all just a quick thought.

Hehehe true true...

but havent you found that your Talon tends to understeer when pushed instead of oversteer, or have a neutral slide?

whats our actual weight distribution with our trunk empty??

if we actualy had more weight in the back, might make us a lil more neutral..

And yes you would have to start from square 1 once you get it done on how you need to balance it for best handling...yup another pie in the sky emoji

BTW i did have the ideaa while back of selling gs, going 4g64 (since id probably have to swap out the crank walking engine annyway) with 4g63 heads+ turbo to make a nice torquey GSX....but.....im too deep into 420a ...so FWD will have to do

blah blah blah

There is a a670 3 speed auto, bolts up to our motor, came in the sohc Neon, and also some AWD caravan (see where this is going?) This trans was based off a Mopar racing trans, it can take a metric buttload of torque stock, and some models (from the minivan) have provisions for a transfer case. So yeah, an AWD option exists. Only problem is gear ratios and fabrication, gear ratios and fabrication....

EXACTLY, and personaly I don't feel like getting together all that fabrication and throwing it into my car. A powerful FF platform and some wider wheels are all I'm working on at the moment
