ok i just helped a friend install a clutch and flywheel into his car (96 jetta SOHC). after doing that i figured doing my own clutch would be terribley hard. i mean it's alot of work but it's not complicated work, ya know. so here we go.
first of all i'm a 95 GS. i believe i have the early build date 95. i have the HUGE ECU not the smaller one that the 96's have, pretty sure those were still OBD I right. would i be modular or non modular? would like to do a lightened fly wheel with the clutch so i guess i could turn it into modular or whatever is more common in case i have the rarer of the two.

almost every 2gnt is modular even if so ya just need to get new bolts and bolt up the new flywheel(non modular)
just get a fidanza flywheel and clutch from a 2gnt vendor
You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.
If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good. If you want it cheap and good, it's not going to be fast. If you want it good and fast, it's not going to be cheap.

Just for info you have the late build 95. The early build had the smaller ECU and the later had the Larger ECU. I have a 95 i just cut up (early build with small ECU) and i drive a 96 so i have seen both up front to compare.
