I have a spare trans w/ a good clutch housing but the other half is bad. Ive never rebuilt a tranny before and I was wondering if it was possible in my situation. Also, do I have to take the entire assembly (and everything inside) apart? Anyone in the Cincinnati area that can give me a hand at this?

Good job putting that spider shaft through the case. emoji I did the same thing on my automatic tranny. It is possible to use the guts of that transmission with a different differential and bellhousing. Usually, the guts of the tranny still look alright, even after the spider shaft goes for a walk. There are a bunch of 13MM bolts around the edge that hold the bellhousing to the case. REmove those and pursuade the bellhousing off. Throw the new bellhousing on, putting a different differential in there. And for gods sake, safe the new differential and use some form of traction modifier (like a Phantom Grip). Better yet, just get a Quaife. You wouldn't regret it.

yeah, the pin came out and tore a hole all the way around. heh. I took the diff. out of my other spare tranny and everything looks good. One more question though. How can I clean out the metal pieces w/o taking the internals apart? Can i put a quart of tran fluid in the half and try to wash them out? and maybe a magnet? I would prolly cause more harm than good if I tried taking all of the internal out of it.

also, the large lever for the shifter cable on my good transmission is kind of weak and not as beefy looking as my old trans. Do you know how to swap these levers? it has some sort of a machined pin in it.
